There Can Be Only One! - Tournament Finished!
Posted: Tue Dec 08, 2020 2:04 pm
As Alexander, King of Macedon, gets ready to embark on his wars of conquest, many men flock to his banner. Although they are all fighting for him, secretly some covet higher offices, a few even dreaming of the day the king dies and they can assume power...
This tournament ideally has 16 people, 2 to a team, with 8 teams initially. You play one of Alexander the Great's warriors fighting in his battles. You strive to continuously improve your rank with promotion, although initially you must aid/get aided by a rival. If you are victorious, you will gain higher promotions; fail and you disappear into obscurity.
Each team of 2 people play a mirror game against another team, BUT each person only plays 1 of the mirror games.
Example: In the first battle "Greek Subjugation" Team 1 has players A and B; Team 2 has players C and D. There is 1 mirror match (2 games to be played total). Team 1 decides player A will use the Macedonians in the 1st mirror match game, and player B uses the Greeks in the 2nd match game. Team 2 decides player D will play Greeks in the 1st mirror match game, and player C will use the Macedonians in the 2nd match game. So altogether the first match game has A against D, and second match has B against C.
*****
We will use the standard point scoring in FoG 2 tournament battles. If you win a battle you get 60 points plus how much of a percentage you won by. Losers gets how many casualties they inflicted.
For example: In the 1st battle, Team 1 player A beats player D 61-36, and in the 2nd battle player C wins against player B 40-15.
Team 1 - 1st battle 60 + 25 = 85 points 2nd battle 15 points total for both battles = 100 points
Team 2 - 1st battle 36 points 2nd battle 60 + 25 = 85 points total for both battles = 96 points
There are 8 groups of 2 starting the tournament, but after every round the 2 groups with the lowest total points from the battle will be deemed unworthy of promotion and released from duty (knocked out of tournament)!
So, you have to work together (at least in theory) with your partner a bit. Decide who wants to be which side, ask for advice, be discreet and just fight, scream about rng rolls; however you and your partner want to go about it!

People will be paired the first 4 rounds. In the final battle, Alexander has died and the last 2 generals fight it out for the empire!
Teams will be arranged according to DL standings (top 8 paired with lower 8/people with no number).
