Sigh - yet another "previous version" error on loa

Thanks to my anti-virus removing launcher.exe I had to re-install CAEW. Thus, the following occurred:

1. Installed v1.06
2. Upgraded directly to v1.12
3. Commenced a game as the Allies.
4. Played through to about mid '42 saving every now and then.
5. Saved the game.
6. Closed the program down.
7. Came back to the game the next day.
8. Loaded my game.
9. Received "Exception - this game was saved in a previous version of the game and cannot be loaded."
10. Frustration level increased.
11. Posted here.

I seem not to have a very good run with this game at all. This is the second time I've encountered this error after a patch (previously from 1.06 to 1.07).

Any help offered would be appreciated. I would very much NOT like to have to lose that save game.

Edit: As a test, I just did the following.

12. Started the game.
13. Selected Axis 1939.
14. Immediately saved the game without making any moves whatsoever.
15. Exited back to the main menu.
16. Attempted to load this new game. Same error message received.

Where did you save?
It is recommended that yo save under Documents on your PC might solve the problem.

Yes, I saved it in CAEW's default \users directory.

I've also now tried using games on the Fast Maps, same result.

Johan - didn't someone say there was a problem caused by the naming of the files and changing the file names fixed the problem?

Thank you for your post. I did a search on your forums and found your "java hot fix" application. After installing this, the game now works properly and I'm able to load my save game that I was halfway through.

I suggest a sticky or something along those lines cause there's 20+ threads about various issues fixed by that java hot fix.

How did you actually fix the issue? The hotfix is supposed to be in v1.12 already so I'm confused why it would not work.

Well, now your confusion has spread to me then. I did nothing other than apply the Java hot fix and it worked.

So, my install path went:

1 - Installed v1.06 - everything working
2 - Installed v1.12 - "previous version" error on all new games, even those saved before making any moves.
3 - Installed the Java Hot Fix.
4 - Immediately opened the game, and loaded my game with 3 years of play into it (39-42) that had previously recorded errors at Step 2.
5 - Everything worked.

The downloads for both 1.06 and 1.12 have come from here to. Dunno what it's all about, but it's only early 43 in my game now and the I've kicked the Germans back to the Polish-Romanian border and a mid-42 launched D-Day has now secured all of France and Belgium with Allied forces fighting for the Hague and close to Rome, so all is good once again.

I'll leave this to Johan - I have no idea!

What was the name of the file you saved, did you accidently type "mysave" instead of "mysave.dat" when loading it because all saves have to end with .dat

Johan - yeah, I tried that, loading as both "gameone" and "gameone.dat". Neither made any difference. I also tried with that game I made, made no moves then immediately saved, saving it as "gametwo.dat" and "gamethree". Neither loaded.
