Hi all
On page 58 right hand column the paragraph in () is a bit confusing to me. Does this mean that Shock troops will have to check when troops who can evade are withing thier normal move + 2MUs?

I guess the question is about roman shock infantry faced with skirmish cav. The way I read it is that they must check in order to not to charge, however, thier is one bullet point that says "If they are foot whose move could contact or be intercepted by mounted" Does this mean that foot shock troops will not have to check to charge mounted?

The issue has come up when we played Roman vrs Palmyran, the Roman infantry was taking tests inorder to tocharge the palmyran mounted, both skirmishers and cataphracts!

Thanks for the Help

Foot do not test for charging mounted. They only test if they do not wish to charge foot. And only then if they cannot contact or be contacted by mounted. And some other exceptions about terrain and not bursting through skirmishers to charge skirmishers

Shock foot only test if there are enemy foot within their normal charge move (not + 2 MUs).

But I suppose the rule means they do not test if there are LF within charge range but also enemy mounted within charge range + 2 MUs (as they could contact these when the LF evade).
