Multiple Battlegroup Pursuit

I have a single battlegroup of Roman Cataphracts that are routing, both of the Sassanid Cataphracts beat them in melee.

I do an initial rout of 4bu for the Romans and roll VMD for each Sassanid group. One group rolls a 5 and goes +1VMD so goes first, it has to wheel a little to catch the Romans who have shifted and contracted to avoid friends. The first Sassanid unit catches them essentially destroyng the Romans. This all seems fine following the rules on p108-109.

However, to stay legal the other Sassanid unit must pursue; it can't go its full amount without running into its friends who went first. What does it do?

a)Burst through its friends
b)Shift sideways to avoid their friends
c)Wheel to avoid
d)Pull up before they run into them.

In my solo game b) seemed logical as the pursued shifted.

Many thanks,

Sean

They can wheel if necessary and drop bases. If this does not all ow them to keep contact they stop at the rear of the friendly bg in front

There may be one mistake in your rout/pursuit move as stated below. The routing Romans do not move a "basic 4 MU" in their initial rout. They must make a VMD roll to see how far they rout. Perhaps you did it this way and just didn't mention it in your post.
