wow. I wish I'd had this as a resource a few months ago! I used some of the pictures when they showed up in other sources -- these are the spectacular-quality originals.

This is worth a look even if you don't need the pictures. They're beautiful, and you can use SNIP to pull them out and paste them into your editor to make pictures for scenarios and campaigns.

Thinking about pictures of soldiers, and reading about the death of Sean Connery (who as far as I know wasn't a soldier in reality but did play one) reminded me of Christopher Lee who died a few years back and actually WAS in the UK special forces during WWII. Makes me wonder if an image of him might be fitting in some contexts. Especially it being halloween and all.

But Christopher Lee played in a Bond movie but with Roger Moore, not with Sean Connery (Scaramanga in 'The Man with the Golden Gun')

Mules were extensively used in Italy, including Sicily, by US divisions. I can't find them on the US Army infantry division Table of Organization and Equipment, but every source talks about resupply in the mountains by mule.

There are really enough pictures around showing the usage of mules. These were more used in the Pacific/Burma by US and Commonwealth troops, e.g. Chindits which received air-drops only rarely on certain locations behind enemy lines.
