How do I get units out of reserve and deployed onto the battlefield?? ....Is over strengthening a good deal or are more units a better idea?...dont like the fact that ATGs can fire from 2 hexses away...dont they have to be next to a unit to shoot at it??

Overstengthing is a good option for specific situations.
If you buy a green unit 'late' in a campaign overstrengthing will help is survive longer.

They don't fire from 2 hexes away. They support units they are next to, think overlapping units,

The top two bottoms are only in the Deployment phase and move all your units into or out of reserve.

The side button will move the selected unit only.
If you keep pushing the button the unit will go in and out of reserve with each push.
This button can work mid game if you have the slots available.

If the new scenario has less slots than the previous scenario you can not deploy units until you place enough units in reserve to drop below the limit. This is about the only time you use the top buttons.

Units on the map can not be placed in reserve, you must undeploy them first. That button is not shown in the posted image.

THANKS DALFREDE...maybe you can help me with my hero units...I cant get them to attach to a unit.....do they have to be attached to certain types like armor or infantry???

Most heroes are not unit type specific. Those that are have notes attached that say so.
For example Rebase only applies to aircraft.

Heroes can only be attached during deployment.
A max of three heroes per unit.

Moving heroes is generally more of a problem because the hero list does not show to which unit a hero is assigned.

Heroes are given at the beginning of every scenario after the first, and may be assigned to a unit by opening the unit details (the ‘i’ button below the unit’s portrait in the bottom left corner of the screen), then going to ‘Heroes’ and then ‘Assign’.
