Saving Some Command Points as a Strategic Reserve

I've been playing a lot of multi-player games with a friend and I have learned to save about 20% of my initial Command Points as a strategic reserve instead of committing them all at the start of the scenario. I can then purchase and deploy the right kind of unit, in the right place, after the enemy is committed. I don't initially buy AT guns, for instance, until I see where enemy tanks are committed. Anyone else do the same?

As long as you are able to purchase and deploy units fairly close to where you need the units to be used, this should work fine.
This is usually a good strategy in seaborne invasions where you may be able to deploy units inland later after capturing flagged towns.

Sounds like a sensible strategy.

I’d personally rather deploy formations that have the tools they need to survive any combination of threats while getting their job done than hold a big chunk of points in reserve. But multiplayer is weird and has different needs than either the real world or scenarios.

I will hold on to cp on occasion, but only if I've got a plan on how to use it, and I'm deploying units that can get to where they're needed quick enough.

I'd generally rather use leftover cp on a cheap scout unit that might be defeated, but will tie up the enemy forces or secure a flank
