AI Unit Buy Behavior?

Do we know the specific circumstance(s) for when the AI will buy new units during a scenario and if so what are they?

What is the AI behavior for those units set to (default, attacker, defender, active)?

also...

What is "default" AI unit behavior exactly? Is it its own behavior or is it a generic placeholder to be re-assigned based on other factors in the game logic.

The AI will buy units when:
1) It has the Prestige
2) Has free slots

From my experiences, the "default" behavior will make the AI side naturally attack or defend based on whatever the AI side is set to in "Scenario Parameters" (on the "Sides" tab) the AI will take on that behavior if left on "default".
. . .
'Attacker' parameter is who ever has the first turn.
