Small TTmod question

Hello eveyone,

I'd love to be able to use the TT mod banners and maybe even textures when playing historical battles/campaigns, I also do not intend to play multiplayer anytime soon.

I tried replacing the field of glory 2 main folder data with the one from the mod (units, banners, unittextures), but it looked like it didn't translate all the things well.
I don't mind re-installing the game to clean it up afterwards, so i'd like to know if there is a way to properly bring ttmod textures to the main game, as a whole.

Thank you for your time :)

Well of course there is a way, but it is a vast amount of work. The big problem for the Historical battles is that most of the TT mod units have their own distinct unit names, so to get those units into a Historical battle you have to open each battle file and replace the original units with the relevant TT Mod ones. Knowing the correct TT Mod unit to use requires a huge knowledge of the mod and the historical battle.

For campaigns there is a similar problem, you just have to go through the campaign files and replace any army list names with their TT Mod equivalents. It's not as much work as the battles, but you still need to know an awful lot about the mod to know which TT Mod army to use to replace the original. If you make a mistake and leave in an original army that does not exist in the TT Mod the campaign will crash.

A smaller problem is that the file structure of mods is a bit different to that of the main game, so you can't just copy the mod and paste it into the main game. Some files have to be copied and pasted individually into different parts of the games file structure. For instance, the ArmyList.txt and BannerSideIDs.txt that sits in the main mod folder has to be pasted into the main games Core folder.

Please don't ever modify for your main game installation folder though, the safest way is to make a copy of the main game in the Slitherine folder and mod that. So if you have already modded the main game, please uninstall and then manually delete any remaining data from the main game folders (because the uninstall might not remove anything you have pasted in), and then reinstall the game.

Thank you for your answer, I figured it wouldn't be that easy, oh well x)

I'm happy enough to play the mod on custom battles/campaigns ultimatly. I have indeed uninstalled the game and deleted the modified files
afterwards when I saw it didn't work as I wanted so everything should be fine.

Have a nice day!
