Asking for a Friend

Seriously...:)
This entails an online mp game.
A good friend of mine posted this in Steam & I said I would repost in this forum.

bbry_pri:
Problem in an online game
I am a client state of Egypt {as Cyrene}. Egypt is at war with Ethiopia {as obviously am I}. Blemmyes is a client of Ethiopia and is sieging an Egyptian city.
I took an army to help kick Blemmyes out, but when I got there it would not allow me to attack the Blemmyes army {it shows me as neutral to them}.
How is this possible if they are at war with my liege?
Is my army supposed to watch the city burn and do nothing?
To make it worse, a slave revolt is sieging another Egyptian city, and since I couldn't help against the Blemmyes army,?
I thought I would help there, but I could not even help there.
What's going on, am I supposed to sit here with an army and watch 2 cities burn, while being unable to help my liege, when I could crush the enemy in both cases?

note: the Blemmyes army is a client of Aethiopia.
Per slaves, can a client attack the uprising slaves of the nation that 'owns' it.?
This is my friends game in a multiplayer game we are both in & has created a confusing...problem.

Are those armies at war or just sitting around?

We think they are supposed to be at war.

Did you look at the diplomacy and declare war?

As a client, you are already at war with whom ever your liege is.
Also, as a client, you do not have the option to declare war.
