Stay tuned for things to come ... (playtesting/beer drinking ATM)

Planning to do (and working on) a number of scenarios; focus on Byzantine-Persian Wars, perhaps other stuff too. I'm using units/banners/textures from the TTMod, so if you're reading this, Paul: I'd be very happy if I could get your permission to use your stuff! So please drop an inconspicuously line, if you decide so.

I frellin like designing maps; scripting not that much. So expect some quite straight-forward scenarios, no wizardry included.

See you later.

Ready to go! When Paul gives me his OK I'll send the scenario to Richard.

Paul gave me his OK, so I'll send the scenario to Richrads during the next hours. :o

---

Was working on a reverse scenario of the battle during the past hours (wanted to skip that first cause of the complexity, but the scenario would play very well from the Sassanid side too); unfortunately I had several crashes when I started the scenario, exactely like those cases:

viewtopic.php?t=79761

viewtopic.php?t=53339

So I did something wrong while editing the BAM file although I exactely followed Paul's guidlines here:

viewtopic.php?f=491&t=82653

Frustrating, for those are thousands of lines of script, so it's impossible to locate the error.

I'll give it another try later, but I'm not very optimistic.

At last: Now the scenario is playable from the Sassanid side too!

During the scripting process I missed one important step and messed up the BAM file.

Now I'm going to set up the Byzantine AI and do a test run.

It is now downloadable in game, and it is indeed awesome.

Thank you very much!

For making the map I was inspired by satellite images of the Euphrates region near Callinicium (today: ar-Raqqa, Syria).

https://www.google.de/maps/place/Ar-Raq ... 38.9981052

The contrast between the fruitful agricultural land of the valley and the barren desert landscape of the southern plateau is fascinating, and I wanted recreate that as far it is possible with the editor.

For playing the scenario on the Sassanid side I'd recommend difficulty level 2, for the Byzantines 3 and above.

Tips for the Sassanides: Proceed exactely like Azarethes did 1489 years ago.

For the Byzantines: Keep the infantry stable, the cavalry flexible, and the prayers persistent.

Really fun scenario, thanks! I ended up with the historical result: Sassanid Phyrric victory (55% to 61%).
