Close Combat - Wacht am Rhein Connection Issue

I'm having trouble playing online with a friend. I've just downloaded the game & I have Windows 10 (64 bit) & I think he's Windows 8.1ish.
You will likely get better help on the main forum for the game (https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=621) but IIRC that is an older game which requires the host to open TCP port 1945 to allow play.
