Map Editor FOG2

Hi There, I have searched the posts for this and not found an answer, please accept apologies if I have missed it.
I have created a map in the editor but am unable to work out how to use it with multplayer battles - I play multiplayer with my friends but am confused how to get a map we can all use that has been created in the editor. I thought that I would be able to save it to maps and then get it to show in the drop down maps list when creating the multiplay game.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Shaun

You need to create it in the Editor as a Multiplayer scenario, then it would be saved in the Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/Multiplayer folder.
If you did not check the "Create in Multiplayer folder" check box when you created it, it would have been saved to the Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/Campaigns folder by default. If you copy the saved folder to the Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/Multiplayer folder, it should work in multiplayer.

Thank you for coming back with your suggestion, I did save it as a multiplayer but I saved it just as a map and had no units placed so maybe it is not finished in the eyes of the game.

Yes, that is so.

OK so I have checked and the map is saved in the multiplay folder - FieldOfGlory2/multiplayer/scenarios/custom as a .BAM file.
When I go to set up a multiplayer game either choose a battle or create skirmish I cannot see the map and it is now populated for the Battle of Carrhae and has Generals - I must still be missing something?
Thanks for your time.

That path is incorrect:
It should be in
/Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/Multiplayer/
YourCampaignFolderName/scenarios/
YourScenarioName.BAM
(Also I can't tell from the path you have written whether you might have put it in the main build, rather than in the location I have specified. You should not do that, and a MP user scenario won't work correctly if you do).

That is strange because I never moved the file, the path I specified is where the game put it. Will see if I can change it and post back - thanks.

So I created - Documents/MyGames/FieldOfGlory2/multiplayer/custom/scenarios/ParthiavRome.bam
No sign of it, if I saved the images do I need to post them online somewhere and link to them, thought that might help but not sure how to put images in the post - yes somewhat nooby.

Sign up with the imgur photosharing website, it is free, you can then upload your images there and post the links into your forum post. I explained how to do it in this thread a few weeks ago:

BTW, what is "custom" in your file path? Is that what you called the Scenario folder in the Editor?

The other thing you could do would be to .zip the folder and attach it here so we can test it.

OK so set up the account, thanks for the suggestion, here I will post a few images showing the file path for the scenario in multiplayer and campaign folders.
Here is the multplayer path -
I think I used custom as the scenario folder name, everything else was created by the game in the save process.

If you have a CAMPAIGN.TXT file present you must add the names of the scenarios to it - as per any of the common campaigns.

Ah yes, right, sorry I didn't spot this.
As in
[ParthiavRome]

So I tried to edit the text and can now see a route to it in the game menu but when I click on it it does not launch. I think I probably edited the text doc wrongly so I have now zipped it so you guys who know what you are doing might kindly sort it out and zip it back. I really would like to know where I am going wrong, I have table top gamed for 30 years and also am very good with games such as the Total War series but myself and my friends really enjoy FOG 2 and want to create some accurate scenarios. This was just a toe in the water to see how the editor works and then how to make it available for multiplay.
Thanks for the time you are spending on this and please don't get frustrated with my poor attempt.
Thanks
Shaun

You just needed to put
[ParthiavRome]
in the Campaign.txt file in the Multiplayer version.

Is the NewRoman scenario meant to be playable? It does not have any units, so when you start the scenario it immediately ends.
As Richard said, you need to complete the CAMPAIGN.TXT, at the moment the MP and SP CAMPAIGN.txts are both blank, that is why you cannot see the scenarios in the MP Create Challenge screen.
My Scenario creation guides on this forum explain almost everything that you need, here is the one on the CAMPIGN.txt;
https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewto ... 91&t=81258
For your ParthiavRome scenario you can simply copy the details from the Carrhae entry from the vanilla Rise of Rome CAMPAIGN.txt, and paste it into your CAMPAIGN.txt.
I did not explain how to write an MP CAMPIGN.txt, but if you open an existing one you see what needs to be done, it is very simple.

Thank you, I have got it going and have edited it to align with more research and tweaked some terrain.
Once my friend accepts the challenge I will know if it works completely.
Thank you for the time you guys put in, it is much appreciated.

OK hopefully the last post on this, my friend has now seen the game in the multiplayer lobby but when he clicks on it it says he has to download the file, how does he do this please?
Thanks

You need to send him the folder from your MULTIPLAYER folder and he needs to put it in the same place on his machine. There is no automatic up/downloading of campaigns as they can be 100s of MB.
