Do prototype units eventually become regular units?

I have access to the dicker max prototype unit will this become a regular unit so that I can buy more than one?

Yes, but I am not sure about the Dicker as I never used it. However other equipment will eventually become standard.

Der Dicker Max is a one time deal. You only get that which is originally allotted to you. If you take loses, you will not receive any additional units to reinforce it with. In other words, what you see is what you get.
However, so long as you do not allow it to be destroyed completely, you will be able to upgrade it to a "standard" unit and keep its experience.

Prototypes of "normal" units do eventually become available, such as those provided by Industry Connections.
But not captured equipment or special units like Dicker Max.

Not quite- you only have 20 strength points total to use. So 10 to buy the unit then it can be reinforced normally until you use up the remaining 10. As long as the unit survives though it can be upgraded to a different unit.
If you get a repair hero then they can repair them without using the pool....can be a good way of keeping then around (also works on Gustav and Karl)
