identifying unit with heros and/or medals during mission?

What is you system for quickly identifying units with heroes or medals while playing? a related question do you make a list of your heroes and their traits and what unit they are attached to?

There is a little icon on the unit display that shows if they have medals or not, but you have to look in the detailed unit info to see which medals they have earned

New hero icons are indeed part of the update. They have fancy little banners to the right side of the strength plate.
That said, I still use unique models and camo paint schemes for my most prized and hero stacked units, for immediate battlefield identification.
Jet black is my current favorite for whichever of my Panzers is a tank busting machine.
I call it evil black, for that extra sinister vibe kinda like this fellow:
