In an attempt to down load update 3 tp Panzer Corps 2 the down load is unable to download and the following message is listed:
An error occurred while trying to open an FTP file.

This happens every time I attempt to download this update.

Any solution to correct this problem?

I don't know if you've got the Steam version?
I bought mine from Slith/Matrix and whenever updates are released I go straight to the Matrix forum to download them from there.
1- Click 'My Page'
2- Scroll to your game and click 'File downloads'
3- Click the download you want, the latest is patch 4 also known as v01.01.01, released May 26th,
then go sit munching popcorn watching ''World's Deadliest Prison Riots" on TV while it's downloading.

Tried that, but the last update that appears is from May.

Okay and I see Slith have just released v 1.01.04 without announcing it in big bold letters and I almost missed it, grrr..
Also I don't know if it's patch 5 or whatever as they haven't told us, grrr again..
Anyway, below is the update latest procedure (as of July 12th 2020)-

1- At the Slith/Matrix forum your 'My Page' should look like this, so click 'File Downloads'-




2- Select v 1.01.04 (July 09 2020)-




3- After downloading, your opening screen should now look like this, v 1.01.04-




4- And the splash screen should read 1.1.4-



(PS- If anybody's wondering why I bought the 'General' edition instead of the 'Field Marshal' edition, it's because Slith didn't make clear what the difference between them was (or I missed seeing it), otherwise I'd have bought FM)

For me Steam automatically downloads the latest update, it is very convenient

I've got some games on Steam and it's annoying when I sit down to play a game and the Steam message comes up- "Auto-updating, game will be ready to play in X hours".
Ideally Steam should give us the option to turn auto-updates off, so that we can choose a more convenient time to update, like overnight while we're asleep, or while we're watching TV.
Nowadays I prefer buying games direct from the game companies rather than from Steam.

Steam has an offline mode that solves that problem.
