on a wide plain the more numberous Catalans manevered to spread out the pike blocks. Catalan left flank was crushed but Catalans managed to swarm around both flanks, taking out archers and artillery, and then taking several blocks on the catalan right flank from the rear , to just pull out a victory , before the victorious right flank of the LC arrived south

The longer Hebrew line could outflank the Seleucid phalanx, putting significant pressure on the flanks. To make matters worse, the Hebrew chariots held the line in the centre, checking the phalanx advance while they were peppered with arrows.
