ianiow (Arabs) defeated cunningcairn (Hebrew/Egyptian) 61 vs 59

Cuningcairn deployed his Egyptians on a central hill, spears in front and archers shooting overhead. Upon this the arabs sent the deepest part of their MF horde. While the egyptian infantry held the slope the archers piled volley after volley into the back ranks of the arabs inflicting heavy losses things looked doomed for the Arabs. Sensing a victory the Hebrew left and right wings swung around the hill, the left pushing the thinner arab MF flank backwards. The right, mostly cavalry and skirmishers met sterner resistance. As the Arabs pushed back the Hebrew skirmishers, more and more of the Arab left wing were able to aid the fight for the hill and as one Egyptian spearman fell, it send a wave of disruptions all around it. This is what the Arabs needed and they gradually forced their way up the hill to the soft underbelly - egyptian archers.

Cunningcairn was winning this battle -sometimes by a large margin- until the very last turn. I was saved on that last turn by some lucky resistance rolls. Enthralling game. It should have been at least a draw.

It was a bad day for the Spanish lancers as more than once Arab MI stood up to their initial charge which gave the Khorasanians time to bring up supporting troops to repel the lancer attack. The untimely death of a Spanish general leading several lancers in an attack also was a factor. Good game.

I am sorry but I can not tell, nor recall, if i had Qin or Han. The game does not tell me either. Cnningcairn, perhaps you recall/know?
