At the moment I'm just trying to get my bearings and first information regarding soviet inf development during the war.bondjamesbond wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 12:52 am You're welcome ) I will help in any way I can but more specificity !
In other news, I will probably have an Addon update around the next weekend (after the current heatwave).

Reading information from individual unit equipment to division composition, combined arms and battle doctrine, artillery usage and so on. Just to get an overview.
Even rewatching some videos like this one about soviet squad tactics:

Will get into the topic in the coming months. Probably mainly after the two hot summer months July and August.
The current heatwave in my area is not so great for mental focus. :evi

Locarnus wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 6:45 pm Another massive update, mostly focused on the soviet lineup.
I'm slowly getting to technical Soviet Corps DLC compatibility, but there are lots of issues. For now Soviet Corps DLC can be started from the center campaign picture (former Tutorial), though I do not have a fitting picture for it.
The most time consuming issues were due to Battlefield Europe mod being older than Soviet Corps, thus Finland has a different nation ID and Japan nation ID was taken by spanish Blue Division.
BE Blue Division is now under normal spanish nation ID (9), while Japan has nation ID 33, like in unmodded Panzer Corps (afaik only very few BE scripts had to be adjusted, and I knew where they were).
Finnish nation ID had to stay the BE one (12), in order not to break BE scripts (where ever they are), so I had to adjust the Soviet Corps DLC scenarios with Finland in them and manually change the units and flags and so on...
Thanks to the discussion and feedback from Anderkav, many soviet units were partially rebalanced and the soviet unit roster was massively expanded, especially the airforce.
Yak and lend lease fighters P-39, 40 & 63 have many more versions and variants, many fighters have better ground attack capability.
Soviet infantry has a mid 1944 upgrade, and cavalry and M-72 motorcycle inf have 43 upgrades as well.
BE scenario and GC 44 & 45 East campaign scenarios were adjusted to have many of those new units, as well as some late GC 43 East and original campaign scenarios.
2025-07 Update "Locarnus Addon" Download: https://bit.ly/3Ghk5QK
This is only an update to the Addon and requires the 2025 base version of the Locarnus Addon to be installed already on top of BE 2.4 and the bugfixed PzC patch 1.32 first. All previous updates to the 2025 base version are included in this one.
Technical and graphics, thanks to guille1434 and Mettmann (Amulet mod):
- Japan (nation ID 33) replaced Blue Division (went to nat Spain ID 9)
- Center campaign picture now starts soviet corps DLC with Addon units
- Yag-10 rebalanced (rof), AT instead of tank mode, guille1434 graphics
- KV-2 and T-90 now have fitting direct fire graphics thanks to guille1434
- Bison I non-trop has direct fire graphic thanks to Mettmann (Amulet mod)

- Several more minor adjustments to various units

Yeah, just the beginning of the work on Soviet Corps, so far mainly focused on the technical issues.
With soviet inf 39 versions nerfed so hard in BE, I did not yet replace the starting forces.
And some graphical stuff still to do, like some animations being shown in the wrong place, or the campaign start picture showing the german poster from BE.![]()

Those are just visual indicators for the upgrade families. Each unit following such a separator icon should be in that same upgrade family. And thus cost only the price difference, instead of the full price when upgrading in-family.
Or do you mean the top right pictures missing for some units? Those should eventually be added, I just skipped them for time reasons (as they are not essential for gameplay).
Many units also have that light plus sign "+" with a thin red "x" through it to the right of the big picture in purchase screen (like the I-15, I-153 and I-16 Type 5 fighters). Those symbols were added by McGuba to show the Allied player in multiplayer that those units can not be reinforced. But since the Addon does not support multiplayer, they are mostly meaningless with Locarnus Addon. So far I was just too preoccupied with other stuff, to make new big pictures for these units (without those symbols).
yikes!
Thank you for all the feedback and the links to further reading on the soviet army!bondjamesbond wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 1:49 pm
The main thing is to start and make the RKKA balanced and more realistic and you will not have easy victories to show on YouTube )))) Now the Soviet army is the boys for beating but with your help they will hopefully become full-fledged wars in our favourite game )) Yes, I do not quite understand the meaning of dice 999 but I'm used to the fact that there are no some real documentary photos of the unit, as well as I do not really understand the upgrade well since you are closely involved in this topic I think we will jointly correct everything )))

Oh, 3000 prestige is really low.goose_2 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 2:59 pm yikes!
After applying and making upgrades to my units I am just barely over 3000 prestige.
I may still need to give even more tweaks which would dip me below this number.
There may come a point where I can no longer upgrade or maybe gasp, stop giving os replacement strength.
What is 44 an 45 going to do to me?
The Soviet generals and marshals were just more modest than the Wehrmacht fantasist generals who were always hampered by something, judging by their memoirs: General Frost, the fact that there were many Russians and it wasn't fair, as well as the stupid Austrian Efreyator who was always hampered by his command)))) Also the first two years of WWII were very difficult for us the turning point I think came in 1943 ! Any country in the field of such a blow in 200 divisions across the front crumbled and surrendered, but the Soviet Union under the great Stalin not only resisted but also escorted the uninvited guests kicking already to their home do not need to confuse the mighty USSR with Russia 90 Yeltsen )))) If you will need help in collecting information please contact me, no agitation strictly dry real facts )Locarnus wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 3:58 pmThank you for all the feedback and the links to further reading on the soviet army!bondjamesbond wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 1:49 pm

It is a bit strange that the soviet side does not feature more prominently in ww2 media. They are closer to the traditional story arc (getting beaten at first, then doing the beating later on), at least for the 1941-1945 portion of the war. I guess in terms of Panzer Corps and similar games, they german unit variety is much more insteresting. Mass production is good for winning wars, but less interesting for gameplay. Similar thing for cars, a mass produced Toyota Corolla dominates markets, but car games feature vehicles looking like low production Lamborghini and Koenigsegg and so on.
It will take a while, but I'm determined to make improvements.![]()
Oh, something is wrong with the randomly assigned heroes. No name or portrait shown. I'll have to investigate.
Playtesting today actually dipped down to 2500 in prestige after final upgrades and os. Yes it is getting scary, but that is so funny how you think I will settle for MV, when I only settled for that in Modlin. So cute.Locarnus wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 3:58 pmOh, 3000 prestige is really low.goose_2 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 2:59 pm yikes!

What is 44 an 45 going to do to me?
With all the recent update changes to the soviet 44 & 45 lineup, the difficulty has increased a lot.
Soviet air force using much more up to date models from late 43 onwards.
Soviet infantry upgrades for an increasing number of units from mid 44.
And the +1 experience level for 45, which will come out to effectively +2 enemy experience for your difficulty settings, giving the AI 5 stars all around when you struggle to get 5 star units yourself due to double Field Marshal difficulty.
I think your current spending is not sustainable.
The small damage points taken are extremely expensive now, since they shave off the top overstrength points.
Might be worth a thought to go into battle without repurchasing full overstrength on damaged units. And then not go for decisive victories and map wipes, if not necessary to reach bonus scenarios.
