US Corps 1944-45 1.2
General scenarios:
Replaced the bocage substitute ‘desert rough’ with ‘rice field’ as this may be more appropriate (roads are somewhat functional on rice fields). This should also prevent the AI from getting motorized stuck in ‘bocage’.
Would "difficult terrain" be more appropriate? I know visually it appears more hilly than "rice field" but has a greater effect on combat & cover. Even "forest" type might be a better substitute. I just finished Omaha Beach on 1.1 and upgraded to 1.2 for Point du Hoc for play testing.
I want to use as substitute terrain something that is not already on the map.
Makes it much easier to replace whenever we get proper bocage terrain.
Also, rice field is the closest we have with regard to properties and visuals (field).
I agree that an ad hoc solution is needed but the problem I see with "rice field" is that it provides 0 cover and only impairs combat efficiency by .9. The actual bocage provided a defender excellent cover and severely reduced the combat advantages of the Allies attacking into it. So we need something that is in the 75% cover range and reduces attack power to .6 or less while also severely restricting movement. I'm on mobile at the moment but what are the properties of "swampland"?

Swamp is also already used in these scenarios. I am afraid there are not many alternatives left.

Germany West 1941-43 1.7
Link updated in first post.
Erik,
I had just started Germany West 1941-43 v1.6 but only got through the first 2 scenarios so started over with v1.7. With v1.7 it no longer let me import my army core. Is this as intended?
OK. With my first foray into the Campaign Editor, I discovered that the Core Import line changed from "Germany West 39-40" to "Germany West 1939-40", and I was able to make the edit myself. Sometimes it's the small things that can give you an immense sense of accomplishment!

GerWest'41-'43 15Volturno victory bug (secondary obj.)

From the start of the scenario the first two of the secondary objectives have a red X next to them - even though no such losses have been taken - and remain so throughout the game. I tracked down the error - in the Mission section of the Scenario Settings the two boxes circled in red should NOT be checked....

GerWest41-43 scenario 14Taranto skipped???

by tula1959
As I fight my way to the conclusion of this campaign (in the middle of 15Volturno now) it dawned on me after looking in the scenario folder that 14Taranto was skipped in the progression??? Went from 13Catanzaro straight to 15Volturno and there was no 'crossroads' choice about it as at other times.... Is this a bug or was this supposed to happen???? Clarification please!! ???????????????

That sounds strange.
In the latest campaign a draw/win at Catanzaro takes you to Taranto.

Erik, I just ran through the campaign with the nukes to check progression - and indeed it did go properly from 13Catanzaro to 14Taranto... The only thing I can think of is that when I played through I know that I did NOT get a MAJOR victory in Catanzaro, only a MINOR one.... With the nuke run through there was of course a Major victory - perhaps with only a Minor it will not progress properly???? I am not going to play through the whole campaign again to try and nail this down but it is all I can think of at the moment!

The 3 right Taranto's in the screenshot are draw, minor and major victory, so they are all good.
So maybe it was some minor temp fluke.

Version - Germany West 39-40 1.5
1. Captured Bardufoss - objective is not shown as fulfilled
2. Finish the scenario at turn 40 and the next scenario to load is Narvik again!
Thanks

Matthew
I'll check the Bardufoss obj.
Often in my campaigns a minor defeat or draw may force you to replay the scenario, getting a second change sort of.
Nuke your way to the next scenario if you want to carry on regardless.

Erik, I have answers for both.
1. This "Ger Bardufoss first time" trigger should be set for "Completed" instead of "Open." It activates the "All Bardufoss" trigger which would reopen the objective if the Allies retake it, and that activates the "Ger Bardufoss" trigger (both of which should be marked with "-1" frequency, by the way). But if the Allies never retake Bardufoss, then the "Ger Bardufoss first time" trigger governs and the objective stays "Open" even though the Germans possess it:

- Screenshot 1.jpg (233.06 KiB) Viewed 2954 times
2. Matthew, when there is a Draw, Erik has it set to return you to the Norway crossroads:

- Screenshot 3.jpg (204.07 KiB) Viewed 2954 times
A Draw happens when you win one or more or your objectives and the AI wins one or more of its objectives:

- Screenshot 4.jpg (198.18 KiB) Viewed 2954 times

- Screenshot 5.jpg (159.25 KiB) Viewed 2954 times
So, if you did not "Capture and hold Narvik" or "Capture Elvegardsmoen mobilisation center," the AI won its corresponding objective. Even if you did those, and left "Note naval exit point" open, that would still be a Draw.
Hmmm. Except for one thing. "Note naval exit point" . . . is this actually an objective? Or is it indeed a note? Because, if it is a note, the game sees it as an objective and since there is no way to satisfy it, it remains unsatisfied and therefore "Open." Hence a Draw, no matter what happens in Narvik. Erik, if you want to leave it as a note, it should be marked as Completed from the beginning.

I will just nuke that scenario as I really didn't like the fact that there was so much naval action - even after sinking the aircraft carrier and battleship - there were dozens and dozens of naval actions which were really quite irrelevant to the campaign considering that the main objectives were capturing and holding Narvik, building the airbase, capturing Elvegardsmoen mobilization center which I had already accomplished
GerWest44 - can not import core from West41-43

Having finally finished West41-43 I exported my core and started West44 - NO PROMPT to import core at start - tried to rename the core file several ways and it is NOT detecting it no matter what I call it???? I looked at the campaign settings to see exactly what Erik calls for/allows to be imported - He named it "Germany West 41-43" and I tried that exact but no go - also tried several other ways of naming the file including "German Forces", Germany West 41-43 Forces", but no luck.... Which is odd indeed since when I did the export from West39-40 I named it "GerWest39-40" and that was NOT what was listed in the West41-43 campaign settings and it worked just fine...... No clue what is going on here???????????????

As I stated earlier, the campaign names for importing core units was changed in the latest campaign versions.
For GerWest 44 the following core names should work:
Germany West 1941-43
Afrika Korps 1941-44
Germany East 1943

Erik, Still NOT getting a prompt at the start of West44 for core import.... Renamed the 41-43 core export file "Germany West 1941-43" as indicated but still no joy.... Here is a shot of the export at the end of 41-43 showing the proper name and save.... The only thing I can think of is that I played 41-43 with v1.6 when the campaign folder was named "Germany West 41-43" (as shown under 'campaign' in the shot) and did the original export as "Germany West 41-43" within that framework - I later renamed the file in the main core folder to "Germany West 1941-43" ?????? Could that cause incompatibility????? Any further thoughts?????

Germany West 1939-1940 - Why doesn't Bilzen provide supply

Eben scenario - Capture Bilzen is an objective
Still learning OoB after more than 100 hours

but I don't understand this - I captured Bilzen and it shows a Red 0 and +50 in Supply Mode display
Why can I not deploy reserve units there - I assume it is because of the Red 0 but why is Bilzen not providing Supply - it is a town and it is an objective
Thank you again

Erik placed 25 supply in Bilzen. What you are not realizing is that it takes three turns for a captured VP to become usable in terms of supply and deployment.
See here how I "liberated" Bilzen; the town is now German but the flag is low on the pole. That means it is providing no supply and cannot be used for deployment:

- Screenshot 5.jpg (496.03 KiB) Viewed 2860 times
Three turns later, however, the flag is fully raised, supply is flowing, and I am able to deploy a unit nearby:
