How is morale calculated? I suspect losses are more negative then wins are positive?
I was in green and if my count is correct I've had eight wins and four losses since then. I'm amber now. Just curious

Roughly a loss is twice as bad as a win is good - if that makes sense.

Our first siege is under way.

The Canaanite city in Arkabbim is under siege by the Covenanter Empire. Although a Kappadokian relief army is on it's way an early attempt by the Covenanters to take the city by treachery narrowly failed (if hidde had not have had an inspired leader in his army it would have succeeded. Also the Canaanite's national morale is not Red so they did not get the negative modifier).

Supplies are holding out and we await new of the besiegers next action.

I had asked but never saw a reply: Can the siegers call for 'back-up' from an ally???

Nope - in the besiegers favour are the options to starve, assault or use treachery before the relief army arrives. I think that is enough.

With so many battles over the last couple of weeks I can't do the Lost Scrolls

However the following may be of interest to the feeble minded:-

So far there have been 137 battles played to conclusion. 7 were drawn, 39 the def won and 67 the att won.

Top agressors are morbio & pantherboy with 12 battles as attackers, xiccarph with 11, iversonjm with 10 & then blathergut with 9.
The victims of most attacks were amaz_ed who had to defend in 14 battles, hidde in 11, pantherboy in 9, and scar & blathergut in 8 each.

Worst attacker results:- hidde lost 53%, xiccarph 51% & deeter 49%.
Easiest attacker victories:- pantherboy lost 4%, iversonjm 5% & pantherboy again at 7%

Costly defensives were:- amaz_ed who lost 48% or 49% in 3 battles
Barely bothering to get their defending army out of bed for a victory were pantherboy & ironclad with around 5-8% only lost.

Siege Ends

Sadly hidde realised that his inspired leader did not make it into the city - so deadtorius was able to bride traitors within the city to open the gates. An unlucky roll for the Canaanites.

This means the city & area fall. The Kappadokian relief army heads home.

Only question left is whether the besiegers will be offered battle honours & permitted to return home or will they be sold into slavery (basically whose treasury get the remaining points).

Treachery...a loathsome act indeed. Not from traitors inside the walls but no doubt evil Covenanter cousins infiltrated the city.
Let it be known that from now on the Covenanter Empire is the arch enemy of Canaan. The wrath of our armies will reach a level unknown to mortal men!
Prepare for war.

Yeah - you might have wanted to await his decision on the fate of your army before saying that - I can hear the slavers approaching the city now!

Well...heat of the moment and all that :P
Surely the vile Covenanters would chose slavery anyway

question for the Great One:

Do alliances expire every new year or are they considered to be spring to spring , fall to fall (or whenever the alliance began) ?

Formal alliances need to be re-newed each Spring. Marriage alliances last until one of them dies.

The slavers arrive as I read this.... As for the Covenanter cousins, I think they were the interior decorators/ Mossad agents we sent to you when we forced you to build that city.. which we designed, complete with back door that we failed to mention after you took possession.
So I guess peace talks are out of the question then??? Sheesh, beware all the Cannanites do not make good losers

Hidde
you want some slightly damaged former soldiers, I hear they will be going cheap on the local slave blocks. You could use them as paper weights or tour guides since they will likely be short a hand, nothing personal but why make them useful against us?

I might be in the market for some fresh slave for my army. Most of my men have been eaten by panthers.

Gobbledygook...enjoy your gloating while it lasts. It was not a loss, it was betrayal :x
You'll get the chance to win a battle proper soon...oops, you did that as well...bah, I'll revenge that too

Hmm since Peter has indicated this bloody season is still in its early stages, quick question... Can a nation drop below red in national moral? I mean if you in the red can you just go for broke without further penalties?
