Division C

gfs26 (Rus 860-959 + Viking 900-1049 AD) defeats looping (Spanish 900/1049 AD) 41% - 16% --> [85-16]

The Rus/Viking army, managed to limit enemy cavalry superiority, and engaged enemy's infantry without too many flank charges. Superior infantry (in quality and in numbers) won most of the melee combat, while the cavalry supported by archers avoided dangerous charges (there were some, but not enough to help the infantry already engaged in combat). Thanks to my opponent for the great battle !

On an open desert map, the sand and heat proved too much for the French knights and spearmen. The French crossbowmen held their own in the rough going but the Berber ferocity after the death of their commanding general on the very first combat of the battle was too much to overcome. The Bulgarian horse archers were able to surround the French and pick off anyone who came to chase them. The French C-in-C dying on the first charge against light horse was not a good sign for the French.
