An unbelievable draw

tmac11 Roman 24 BC-196 AD + Sarmation 25-375 allies drew with Conteshard Roman 197-284 + Arab 312 BC-299 AD allies
63 - 62 just in my favour.

The Roman infantry once again fight each other to a standstill with huge casualties on both sides.

Great game and one of the weirdest results you will see.

Thanks for the game

Tom

SawyerK leading the Egyptian 1149 to 1069 BC army defeated

wzfcns and his Assyrian 890 to 746 BC army

by 56 to 30.

The battle saw huge numbers of arrows in the air between the Assyrian Spearman/Archers and the Massed Archers of the Egyptians. The latter army's Sherdan Swordsman engaged their Spearman foeman with good success and used terrain and other units to avoid the Assyrian Heavy Chariots as much as possible in the early combat but in the late stages the Chariots hit home and crushed their opponents. The 25 point rule allowed the Egyptians to exit before the Chariots could turn and reap further havoc. My compliments to wzfcns for a well fought game.

Usual war of attrition for the Low Countries. Soak up the arrows, soak up the charges and then finish them off. If it goes to plan of course. Good game.

Vakarr (Dacian 89-106 + Sarmatian 25-375 allies) defeats alexmike1 (Roman 197-284)
58-31

The Romans and Dacians lined up on the opposite sides of a gully. It appeared that the Romans had the advantage in troop types and numbers from the beginning and they attacked across the non-disordering stream and climbed up the other side to be met with initial success. There was an equal number of heavy and medium infantry units on both sides. The thin Dacian line was pushed back on the Dacian left but held in the centre, while the Dacians, seeing a possible advantage in the Roman left flank, which consisted of cavalry, light troops, and archers, rushed across the stream to meet them there. The Roman auxilia held their centre and the Dacians were forced to attack uphill against them. Some shooting from the Dacian artillery may have helped, as every Dacian charge against the auxilia disrupted the Romans (not sure if artillery shooting causes a minus when testing from being charged by warbands). It was a terrific fight but with the Roman left flank in disarray and flanked and the auxilia smashed the Roman right flank could not make up the difference. On seeing so many superior and extra-superior Romans I thought I didn't stand a chance but it proved otherwise.

Morat (Burgundian/English) beat frederic02 Egyptians Mameluks 54-27

Terrain favoured the Burgundians. Lows hills and enclosures proving useful for the bow heavy force to anchor on. Egyptians fought hard to get round the flanks - but the longbows made the difference.

Thanks for frederic02 for the battle.

Division 4.

Ilkhanid Mongols defeated English (Yorkist) 1486-1497 AD 51:19

The Mongols faced the Yorkist army occupying hedged fields on the very rear of the battlefield, with a difficult hill and marsh making advancing on the Mongol right flank look very unattractive. In the centre and left, however, low hills, interspersed with rough ground and a couple of woods, looked a better place to fight. The Yorkists' small mounted force, supported by four companies of longbowmen decided on a sally, unsupported by the rest of their infantry, and the Mongols were able to wipe out the cavalry and neutralise the longbowmen with their own archers. At this stage the Mongol commander contemplated accepting a non-decisive victory, and waiting to see if the Yorkists would come out of their enclosures to play. The bards do not sing about commanders like that, however, so he decided instead on sending horse archers to try to pick off the longbowmen and supporting pikes and bills at the extreme rear and right of the English position to induce them to attack out of the enclosures. The horse archers' ability to evade was limited by so many units operating in a confined space, but with the help of the Sky gods the tactic proved successful.
