Morat (Burgundian/English) beat random27 berber (hafsid) 64-45

Constrained by some generally vile terrain - lots of rough/scrub and difficult slopes, the English deployed longbows and spears on the left with heavy foot and horse in the few pieces of decent ground they could find in the centre.

Terrific berber assault with lights, mediums and bows on the left caused real havoc. Longbows packing up and running after a couple of rounds. Berber light horse got round the right and caused significant disruption.

In the end a couple of units made the difference. Welsh spears beat off the mediums and lights, and (crucially) a unit of crossbows recovered from fragmentation under the CinC to hold off a series of light attacks. This gave time for the heavies in the centre to see off their foes.

A great game - many thanks to random27. on another day the victory would have gone to the berbers.

Morat (Visigoths/Byzantines) beat Rob123 Palmyran/Arab 41-11

Open battlefield gave room for the Visigothic/Byzantine horse to mass on the left, with lighter forces and horse archers on the right warbands in the centre.

Visigothic horse got to and around the Palmyran cataphracts, routing them with a series of fortunate rolls and were then able to get at the Palmyran centre. The right and centre held up well enough to secure the win. But in the last couple of rounds the legionaries were starting to carve their way through the warbands, and the VIsigoths were fortunate that their cavalry had secured a good enough lead to get over the line.

The Macedonian cav caught out much of the Parthian horse archer horde, but there were still enough to shoot up the hoplites thureos.

SawyerK leading the Egyptian 1149 to 1069 BC army defeated

wzfcns and his Assyrian 890 to 746 BC army

by 56 to 30.

The battle saw huge numbers of arrows in the air between the Assyrian Spearman/Archers and the Massed Archers of the Egyptians. The latter army's Sherdan Swordsman engaged their Spearman foeman with good success and used terrain and other units to avoid the Assyrian Heavy Chariots as much as possible in the early combat but in the late stages the Chariots hit home and crushed their opponents. The 25 point rule allowed the Egyptians to exit before the Chariots could turn and reap further havoc. My compliments to wzfcns for a well fought game.
