I think this scenario hinges on how the opening turns play out. As Bulgars, I had good early dice, and managed to retreat most of the infantry close to the wall to a position further back, where they formed a solid line until the Bulgar cavalry arrived. All of the fleeing guys (cowards!) got away.

As Byzantines, the reverse occurred: the Bulgar infantry had bad luck versus markers, and couldn't escape the flood of Byz units coming over the fieldworks. Edmund then had to throw the Bulgar cavalry in piecemeal to protect the fleeing mobs, but they had bad dice too.

Thanks for the games, sorry the dice made them both rather one-sided.

The Saxon right surprisingly came down the hill and made it quite a fight. A few right dice could have turned it.
