Still battling in Caen. British have lost 5 unints and Germans 2. During an artillery barrage by iProp...he hit one of the ships in the port area and it went all funky on me...

I'll see if it comes back next turn normal

Haha, that's interesting... I think BA is trying to substitute the "barge" for a "damaged barge" after iProp hit it... if that's the case, then it won't fix because core BA doesn't include a "damaged barge" model... Not much help, but just so you have an idea what (I think) is happening... Sorry 8)

GL88's is right there is no DDS texture for a damaged barge.
A quick way to make it look less funky, without creating a completely new damaged dds, is copy and paste the INVASIONBARGE.DDS file but re name it INVASIONBARGE_D.DDS

Thanks Richcat, that's a good idea. I'll add a _d.dds barge to the next version of the GJS'44 upload. Have a great Christmas! GL88

Thanks Justin,
Will wait for result so can update locations/withdrawals, and KIAs to update OOBs.
It's ok for Allied player to report 'em if Mowby is busy?
:-)

Is everyone up and running (shooting :-))?

Allies vs Germans
CAEN: iProp vs Morge4
VIMONT: K9mike vs Mlazar
VILLERS-BOCAGE: Random27 vs Cavehobbit
HILLMAN BATTERY: Jcb989 vs Mowby1

I think I can see Morge4's Caen battle still up and offered... so I'm guessing the rest are already in action...
Out of curiosity, how are the paras finding it second time 'round? Are the same hide and sneak tactics still working? Or did the Germans learn?
Villers-Bocage is up and running. We've just played a few turns so far.

How's it going in Caen and VB gents?
The fighting must be intense.
We lost radio communication there...

Hillman PM casualties:

I'd like confirmation on the flags. I believe, Mowby took back the 3-pt central flag in his last turn, turn 3. We had had it but moved some units out of support position to relieve the location once he snuck over. He also held the 5-pt center flag as shown - that one was never taken.

sorry the screen shot does not show the flag situation better. all other flags held by allies.

Hey Mowby, Do you confirm Justin's VP flags and KIAs for Hillman? If it's an Allied win, I'll need to withdraw II/726/716?
Thanks for the heads up Al! Caen isn't an easy map. Urban slog so needs careful planning and cunning execution...
François/PA, Any news from Villers-Bocage?

Slow going in Villers-Bocage. The Germans hold 3 out of 5 flags and has now started their attack on the town.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the update P-A...
Remember to count the VP points values (in the text next to each VP flag) rather than the actual flag count...
Let me know if you have any problems reading 'em, and I can remind which is which...
Merry Christmas both! :D

PS. Cavehobbit! Forgot to mention... Did the guys tell you about the German private thread? Where you can share in-battle reports and screenshots with your team mates?

The Germans now control 4 out of 5 flags. The British only control Para Brigade HQ. If I remember correct the VPs are 12-5 to the Germans right now. I can read the VP on my iPad, but not on my Mac.

Hey Mike,

OOBs are already correct, except Hillman where I'm waiting for Mowby to confirm Jcb's post above -> http://bit.ly/BA88gjs44oob
Strat Map is also correct, again except Hillman for the same reason. When Mowby confirms points/winner, I can run the excel random to retreat the defender -> http://www.brummbar44.com/BattleAcademy ... r&setdate=

Sounds like VB is almost there, and I haven't heard but expect Caen is probably almost finished too...

Bet you're looking to the start of your hols tomorrow? Have a good one!

Sorry Guys ... been kind of busy.

The Germans held two flags ... it was a lucky grab to keep the battery intact. 2 VPs for Germans, 3 VPs for Allies ... I took the screen shot one turn late ... but here it is.

Jon will need the confirmed flag "points" total...what were the 2 flags total points worth that you heald at the end? If it was not the two 5 pointers....then the Allies won the map. I believe it was Justin with 9 points an you had 8...is this correct?

Thanks for the screenshot Mowby. No worries on delays. It's a crazy time of year! Hope you're having a good one?

Looks like you kept the two gun batteries... one scores a 5-pointer, the other a 3, so 8 points total... Justin got a 5, a 3, and a 1, so 9 points... WOW! That was a close one. One flag either way would have swung it...

Will run the random to figure out which way the German BG withdraws... Retreats are weighted to be more likely in the opposite direction from the approach of the attacker...

Will also update the Order of Battle.

Summarised Battle Results - June 7th PM

VIMONT - German Victory - German Supply Route Re-opened
Allied (3/6ab) KIAs = 17 = 3x Eng, 4x Para, 3x Scout, 2x PIAT, 1x Mortar, 1x 6pdr, 1x17pdr, 2x Bren = BG dissolved (no adjacent friendly sector to withdraw to)
German (125/21Pz) KIAs = 10 = 3x Inf, 2x Eng, 1x MG42, 1x Scout, 2x 251/1, 1x WirbelAA

HILLMAN - Allied Victory - Germans lose Hillman arty bonus
Allied (7/3cdn) KIAs = 8 = 3x Inf, 1x Eng, 1x Scout, 1x Roo, 1x M5, 1x Cromwell
German (II/726/716) KIAs = 9 = 1x VG, 2x Inf, 2x Eng, 1x Scout, 1x PzShrek, 1x Puma, 1x Marder

CAEN: 6al/6 (AMR+) ME v Ost/411/716 (P-)
Messy urban environment, dominated by a castle, with a port at its heart. Infantry/scouts/recon essential. To win here you need to train in cities, eg. Ortona.

VIMONT: 125/21Pz AFD v 3/6ab (MR)
VILLERS-BOCAGE: 192/21Pz v 5al/6 (MR)

Both of these are deceptive. At first glance they appear to be open, tank country, and indeed they are, but there are lots of trees and cornfields to hide in, plus scattered stony river fords, dune grass, and rough ground in fields, where anything, from a piat to a 17pdr, can sit and wait in secret. Played well, these can go either way. Played aggressively, you'll get a battering as Allies or as Germans.

HILLMAN BATTERY: 7/3cdn (N) AFD v II/726/716 (AMRP-)
Modelled somewhat close to reality, these 152mm coastal batteries were actually taken from behind in WW2. So Hillman should be a tough ask when it's assaulted from the front, but the Allies benefit from their devastating Naval Artillery and II/726/716 may have been weakened by a prior attack during June 7th AM.

Explanation of bonuses that were allocated:
A=Arty, N=Naval Arty, M=Medic, R=Rally, P=Promote, +=Air-landing so scattered on arrival, -=Out of supply morale penalty
