On a wide field Portuguese army chose defensive tactics waiting arrival of my troops and keeping a hill in his centre with spearmen and some bowmen, preparing knights attack on both edges of the hill and arrival of camel lancer+ veteran arab spearmen. Meanwhile his arab medium cavalry, light cavalry and skirmishers should keep the flanks. Honestly great tactics for this map cause when i started to center my troops to attack the hill and fight his knights, i could be outflanked by opponents cheap cavalry on the flanks. And i beg if camel lancer+ veteran arab spearmen could arrive to melee earlier i could have a lot of problems.

Nevertheless with a support of a lot of mass archers i advanced on the hill and started melee combats. meanwhile having quantitative advantage vs opponent's knights/ support infantry on the edges of the hill, i got too many points there for a victory.

Lots of shooting by bows and artillery disrupted some of the Italians before the Nellies charged in and routed a few units, however the rest of the army melted away in the face of European discipline.

A very difficult battle on a battlefield with a stream in the middle and a little hill (in Crusader side)... the Viking attacked and managed to overrun the left flank and, later, the centre of the Crusader... but in the meantime, about 40 % of Crusader army attacked on the right flank and passed the stream, trying to envelop the enemy central attack... in the end, this manouvre was a success, and the final part of the battle was decided on the slopes of the little hill, that was a good tactical advantage for crusader infantry, also assisted by the winning cavalry... a very close fight and a very good battle ! Tough game of the classic period between Hellenistic pikes vs Gallic armies with excellent impact troop. The result of the battle was almost decided on a hill in the center of the map where by flanking I broke 3 superior warbands. My lancers did also a great job struggling vs lots of samnites, Celtic chariots and noble cavalry on flanks. Thank you for great game!

The Romans had a very tough time defeating the Bosporan lancers who took out most of the Roman cavalry and several of their medium-foot units. But after defeating the Bosporan foot troops the Romans were finally able to get enough flank attacks on the lancers to prevail.
