nasty terrain, a steep hill on the right , forest and broken on the left , stream running down the middle of all

the frankish knights bravely tried to ford the stream on either flank...but the terrain allowed the vikings to seize the hill , and broken and so first block then severely damage the knights.....while a frankish charge up the middle over the stream pushed back and routed one unit of housecarls, the vikings otherwise closed in from the left and tore up one unit of spears after another

as scores show, very close and nasty one fought on dessert terrain with much broken ground and a seriuos swamp on the catalan right

arab almughavers, clearly traitors to the One True Faith , and veteran spears and mercenary knights took out most of the catalan left, but catalan infantry hidden in the swamp first took out a knight in an ambush then in a firece fight took down the arab left flank, to then wheel on the arab right

could have gone either way....those camels just not in the right mood ! thanks

Ripper of a game, The terrain was favourable and my timing, for a change, was good.

After a slow start the tempo picked up a number of notches from turn 10 and kept on going up!

Cavalry and infantry charges were non stop with the advantage and the result always in doubt.

In the end enough of my forces were able to display greater staying power and victory went to the Romans without the attached riff raff!

A marginal win, on a narrow battlefield limited by a river and some irregular terrain. Veteran african spearmen overperformed in this battle, holding against powerful phalanxes. The decisive action happened on the left flank, where carthaginian cavalry, supported by infantry and light cav, managed to defeat the weak point of macedonian army, and could attack some phalanx units on the rear or flank. In the end, remaining macedonian army did lot of damage. GG mh5064 !
