I think that allies should be allowed in all games, as this would make many armies more competitive. However, I feel that they should be accompanied by an allied general who can command only them. This would be a reasonable trade off. Allied troops should certainly not be scattered across the line.

The specific General would require a change of software as it is not possible at the moment.

The first Time Control check is next Sunday June 23rd . . .

Most of you know the drill by now.
For those that don't, or have forgotten, please see Rule 3 . . .
"Players must register one result in each section they have entered within three weeks, and three results within each section they have entered within five weeks (i.e. the halfway stage) of the opening of the tournament or they may be replaced by a player from the reserve list."
So, that means that everyone should have completed one match in each section by next Sunday. However, the Early Middle Ages section is exempt from the first Time Control check as it started a week later than everything else. And players who have entered the Themed Event are given extra leeway as they have to play all their qualifying group matches in the first 4 weeks of competition. You can see the current situation in each section from the new league tables published today.
The main purpose of this first check is to identify any definite non-starters.
To give a couple of examples of how I implement this - if a player has entered 3 sections, including the Themed Event, and by next Sunday he has registered 2 results in the Themed Event, 2 results in one of the other sections, and 0 results in the third section (but he has matches under way) - then he is going to be fine. He has entered 3 sections and I have 4 results so he has got himself going in the tournament. If, on the other hand, I have a player who has entered 3 sections and has only produced 1 result and has not started matches in one of the other 2 sections - then that player is going to be unlucky and he will lose one of his sections to a reserve.
If there are any questions about this please post them in this thread.

by Geffalrus
Division B
Geffalrus (Palmyra) defeated DzonVejn (Bretons) 40-13. Good game to my opponent.
The Bretons went heavy with the cavalry and skirmishers, with a small force of Breton foot to back them up. Their position on the hill was strong, but I finally found a good use for my massed archers. Protected by armored Cataphracts and Legions, the Palmyran bowmen steadily chipped away at the Breton forces. The Bretons tried a wide flanking ride by the heavy cavalry, but that left the Breton foot exposed, and the armored might of Palmyra rolled forward to victory.
The Palmyrans take the hill, and the win.

Division D
Supervark (Lombards) beat Sawyerk (Ptolemaic) 51%-13%
The Ptolemaic army occupied a series of hills but the Lombards were fortunate to kill off most of their light troops very early on and surround them on three sides. So the Lombard lights had no opposition and proceeded to whittle down on those pike phalanxes and other troops. Finally, they overextended their army and were gradually picked off by the mounted troops. Not an easy battle and could have gone either way up until the last 3-4 turns. GG
