Hrik56 Palmyrans had a close drawn battle against CaptainPunka's Caledonians. The result was 50% to 45%, with the Caledonians securing a 5pt lead at the end, perhaps at least partly by chasing some of my light cavalry off map. This started out with the Caledonian light infantry and chariots gaining an initial advantage against my own light troops on one flank, but elsewhere I managed to even things out and it proved a very close and enjoyable fight.

The French used their knights to stop the Swiss pikemen and took advantage of the disorganisation of the enemy units in the attack or by the shooting of the light units to charge from various points, deciding the victory.

The battle was fought on mainly flat land... the more flexible Byzantines managed to defeat German on their right wing (a cavalry battle), while holding a bit more in the other cavalry battle on the other flank. In the centre, the slight numerical advantage, the excellent Varangian guard, and Skutatoi supporting troops, managed to defeat German strong infantry, also unlucky with some advances followed by cavalry flank attacks. In any case, in the last part of the battle, in an apparently lost situation, the remainig german forces were able to inflict lot of casualties and the final score was only a marginal win.

Carsomyr in Division 4 has shown no sign of life to challenge from 17.1 despite repeat PMs and a posting. What can be done?

Have you sent a PM to him recently?

While players are not required to pick up challenges immediately, as they may have any number of games going, they should let opponents know, if they can't do so fairly soon.

WASP8498 Rus 1155-1264 defeats CaptainPunka Scots 1162-1319 AD w/ Scots (Isles and Highlands), 47-20

The Rus and Scottish forces moved to meet each other at the center of the map. The Scots didn't much cavalry, but it was all heavy cavalry. Archers were the first to engage each other in the center, where a patch of rough ground was present. The archer engagement went on for some time, while the Rus cavalry advanced on the flanks. There was rough ground on the right flank, so the Rus cavalry mainly acted as a delaying force while still slightly softening up the Scottish forces. In both patches of rough ground, there were Scottish highlanders. These forces made it difficult for the Rus cavalry on the right flank, as there wasn't much open ground that could be effectively utilized. The Rus cavalry on the left flank found much more success with a lot more open ground to work with. The infantry engagement started shortly after the cavalry engagements. The infantry lines in the center stayed stable for the most part, with each side having a couple units route or pull back after a while, but after finishing off the forces on the left flank, the Rus cavalry began to flank the Scottish center. At this point the Scottish highlanders were advancing, so there were no units left on the rough ground in the center that would slow down the Rus cavalry. The Rus cavalry on the right flank pulled Scottish forces away from the main fight, while the rest of the Rus cavalry finished off the Scottish center and gave the Rus forces the victory.
