On this side of the Pond it's not available for another week....22nd is the listed date. So you'll likely still get it before we do. 8)
Direct flight to Manchester, quick break-in steal bbok & fly home again ?

How are the Khmer treated in this ? Can I use the elephant artillery as anything other than cool looking baggage ?

Expect to see lots of Khmer armies for sale on eBay.

The Cavalry are worse than DBM, the Bow are ok but the spearmen are nothing write home about. The chariots are the worst I have seen so far. The good news, you can use your Nelle Art(F) as undrilled light artillery but I am not sure what you will do with them. Other than the Elephants, I can see it being a big army. The good news (the only good news?) is that the core troops are mainly drilled. The optional are almost all undrilled.

Champa look better. You can have an all Average (so able to support) 3 BG of El, 4 TC and 11 other BG (all drilled) at 800 Points. 6 of them will be MF with Lt Spear...

Yes, you can use 4 bases as cool looking Light Artillery.

Other than the artillery and the 12 real Elephants (plus 6 more your allies can give you), the army consists of endless multitudes of utter cack. Nothing Superior, nothing Armoured, and no Close Combat capability other than Light Spear.

Also, it must be just about the only list where the cheapest Cavalry BG costs less than the cheapest Mob BG.

And the Burmese can't be an ally for anyone - s0 if you have a couple of Burmese elephants, you need another 10 !!!

I was quite gutted when I read that my favourite Tamil army of elephants and fast blades now consists of El and MF unprot average swordsmen = road kill

Or I could run them as Sinhalese and back them up with masses up poor unprot bow?

Yes indeed. Can't decide whether to rebase my Chinese - or sell them all !!

I've already rebased and am looking forward to playing my Han Chinese. A whole book of MF means a whole book of reasonably set opponents with new tactics to learn. Tournament play is just a sideline--the best parts of the hobby are comradeship and history.

considering that i've just spent lunch-time browsing the history of V Macedonia for my principates, i'm inclined to agree.

Oh my God! I've just looked at the special instructions for the Three Kingdoms Korean list and had flashbacks to DBM's Medieval German list.

I worked out an 800 point Sinhalese list with 19BGs and an inspired commander, with over 90 bases that could shoot! Most of it is utter crap but the poor mobs can give rear support to the poor bowmen and size has a quality all of its own.

Nice.

I did a quick back of the envelope to work out the same thing.

When will you be fielding this? Sounds like 'operation human shield'

Well, I received my copy today and I'm very happy with the Chinese armies - armoured/protected medium foot with heavy weapons backed by armoured/protected Xbows or bows is better than what I was expecting, and now I'm really looking forward to trying out the official lists. I like the inclusion of medium foot with firearm for the Ming- maybe one day I'll be brave enough to use them!

Admittedly, some of the South Asian lists look a bit beyond my capabilities. Does anyone know of a use for medium foot with light spear only? This troop type appears in a good few of the books and I'm at a loss as to how to use them (especially the unprotected/undrilled version!). Perhaps I should start another thread.

Anyway, my congrats to the authors - good job.
