TGM of the Uesugi clan put up a stout resistance to the wave of drunken tavern conscripts and three-legged dogs that descended on them after closing time! But alas, the brave Daimyō Mouser fell in the last turn to Daimyō Dodo's hastily assembled peasants. A rare celebration for the 一向一揆, "Ikkō-shū uprising backed by the fanatic power of our Lord and his Jōdo Shinshū sect.

sillygoy's 14,969 Uesugi (3%) defeat LFDLM's 19,581 Ikko Ikki (41%).

Both of us played aggressively but map gen and flanking forces screwed LFDLM over. We fought on a steppe and I had 3 large battalions of yari cavalry. Also, he had 4 less available superior battalions thanks to them being taken away by a flank march. They arrived too late to save the day, but had they been there from the start, the battle would have been considerably bloodier.

GG mate. Maybe Buddha will love you more in round 2?

Sillygoy and I are playing 2-3 turns per day, so it won't take too long for a decision. I'm also still playing against TGM, but he is in the lead. I did hear the sweet sounds of trumpets rallying my routed troops, much to his chagrin.

That would be strange indeed, but it would help our team's points score :D .

No sorry, I made an error. Your fourth game is against Gdod of course.

Thanks, bud! They are very useful indeed. I took your advice on army composition to heart. Unfortunately, I made some analysis and deployment mistakes in my match against w_michael and I have a feeling that the window for decisive victory has gone, and it's going to be super cutthroat slugging from now on.

TheGreyMouser 14,256 (48%) defeats w_michael 31,466 (70%). It was another exciting game. My left hook of Peasants took too long to arrive behind his rear, but it did enough damage for me to score some tournament points.

sillygoy's 13,930 Uesugi (13%) defeat GDod's 31,476 Ikko Ikki (44%).

Very straightforward battle, with GDod utilizing his numerical superiority to do some flanking maneuvers masked by forests. Thankfully, I had good flank security, and the ferocity of my samurai won me the day. Good game!

w_michael's Ikko Ikki 31,931 (45%) defeats sillygoy's Uesugi 15,043 (68%).

The battlefield had two large woods with a road running through it on my left flank, where I deployed all of my troops. Sillygoy deployed more broadly, so it took a few turns to redeploy. Even so, most of the battles were in those woods, which greatly bell-curves the combat results so that they are more likely to be a draw. That is a great advantage to the more numerous Ikko Ikki, who can then outflank. Sillygoy had a small flanking force that arrived late on the flank furthest from the battle. Good game.

Very good game. I should add that w_michael ordered at least 6,000 Peasants to climb a hill with a difficult slope - practically a mountain - in order to outflank my right. It was a spectacle to watch. Ironically, I considered that hill to be my most important piece of right-side flank security, since I figured that any attempt to traverse it would be slow enough for the holding force fighting my guys to be defeated by reinforcements. Unfortunately, w_michael's holding force of peasants proved to be braver than their lot would suggest (and they were also only acting as meatshields for superior warrior monks), and the sweeping movement of the rest of my force stalled at the edge of the woods.

I suppose my mistakes were:

-deploying based on what the enemy would do, as opposed to what he could do
-not having more reserves for my right side
-fighting in conditions that were advantageous to the enemy

TGM's game turned very ikky for the Ikko-Ikki against my Uesugi. I think the score was 32 66 but the game was a lot closer than the score reflects. The Grey Mouser made good use of a central river-line but troops on both sides became isolated once they crossed. at the same time, peasant fire from gunners and archers took a large toll on Uesugi but eventually the Ikko-Ikki followers were ground down despite most of their priestly warriors escaping the worst of the conflict in tact.

Always in doubt and as always a honourable opponent.
