Ok, I have decided to wrap up a test version (a beta if you will) in the near future. It will have the first 10scns, and I hope to have it out in maybe two weeks (no promise though ;)).

It's fully playable, but there are some cosmetic issues I have not been able to iron out so far.

However aside from those my main concern would be to get feedback about the difficulty, because I'm wondering whether it's overdone somehow. I can win at least MVs everywhere, and DVs later, but it's still quite harsh and sluggish. That is actually intendet esp. for the first scns (since that is how I imagine the war in the east), but I don't want to frustrate players, so that would be certainly open to debate.

With such a lovely endscreen i wouldn't mind a defeat or two ;). If the defeat screen is such a great quality, i wouldn't mind the DV screen as a wallpaper :)

My dear friend Bebro, if you would ever consider adding some early scenarios to the campaign, i would gladly donate the Mannerheim Line map (50x40) for the cause :D

Thank you. :) It's a very cool map. There's lots of room for expansion indeed, the winter war, the whole northern sector around Leningrad, even Manchuria '45 etc. None of this is covered so far in Inferno, but this would certainly make interesting alt. campaign paths :)

Installation is simlar to USMC and IJA mods (split). The guide is a bit barebones right now, please post if things are unclear. I intend to improve it and change to pdf for the final version.

I want to stress that this is a Beta Version. Limits so far:

- includes first 10 scenarios only as announced
- some cosmetic stuff missing or not polished (incomplete big unit pics, sounds and anims), otherwise fully playable

As said my main reason for this is to get feedback on difficulty and prestige. Be warned that this might be _h a r s h_, esp. in the beginning, and esp. if you're used to playing Germans.

But difficulty is always most problematic to judge, since players have different expectations and playing styles. I'm not against changes if it turns out to be overdone for players. Otoh maybe everyone thinks it's too easy still...;)

After you installed it correctly, please consult the in-game library for info on campaign, changed rules, unit switches, upgrade families etc.!

The work of other modders proved to be an immense help when creating this mod. I wish to thank all of them hereby!

One of the most obvious changes is the use of Massi's great terrain tiles for this mod.

For Inferno I use many custom units from other creators, en detail certain types from kerloc's "Support for Mother Russia" unit pack, from guille's PzC support base, some of Anfield's German '43 infantry, several Romanian units provided by Dragos and many Hungarian plus other units from McGuba's Hungarian Campaign. In some cases I modified those units further, I hope that's not against the intention of the original creators.

Furthermore many of the orginal PzC units have been reskinned with camo patterns separately for summer and winter using rezaf's DCS tool. The Kharkov map converted from the original Panzer General game is taken from his PG mod too. The map for Uman is modified from McGuba's map taken from his Hungarian mod. I also want to thank nikivdd for providing all material orginally intended for his Red Fury mod.

Thanks also go to everyone else who helped me - I hope I have forgotten noone.

Sunday is family quality time but i got up early to play the first scenario ;).

I am very impressed by it. Many times the loss of a core unit was a very close call. As usual i'm playing on Col.

As you can see, it was a hell of a fight. It must be a miracle that some of the units survived the German Panzers with 1str left :) Hope i find some time to start mission two this evening ;)

I survived scenario 2 but lost two core units in the process. Prestige is damn tight and i had to scavenge for more (force surrender for example). But this is how it should be or all my tanks would be KV's in no time.

It is a great scenario. At first i expected it to be an easy walkover but a few turns later, the enemy got me by the throat. :twisted:

Hi,

Fantastic first scen so far, been waiting ages for playing the reds.

I've found some strange looking bridges in scen 2, and I thought it down to this being a beta, but looking at nikvd pics, I'm not sure if there's something wrong with my install. Here's a pic:

Hi,

from the pics it looks like an install problem indeed.

Questions:

1. Did you use GME? Some things look quite wrong there, as if it's still referring to vanilla.
2. Where did you install the files? Did you go by the installation routine described in the help file?

Thanks for the feedback :) Glad you like the medals. Yeah Uman starts easier, but changes gear so to speak later.

BTW I should have mentioned in the credits that the map is from McGuba's Hungarian campaign, just modified. I'll add that of course.

1. Yep, I did use GME.
2. I think I did, but I'll check it all again, or maybe even install the game from scratch, since it may be down to files being modified previously.

Please keep me updated when it's working. When it's not, I'll see to explain the installation better, the guide is maybe a bit sparse on some parts.
