Hi guys

I'm afraid Neil has had to pull out due to his changed work rota.

Is there anyone that wants to fill the 20th spot to keep numbers even?

Cheers

Rob

So we have 19 entrants.

If anyone would like to join in at this late stage it would be much appreciated. There is free accommodation so the only cost is the entry fee which includes 2 pub meals at lunchtime.

So if there is anyone who fancies a weekend in Robin Hoods Bay this coming weekend please drop me an email or leave a message here

paul@navigatorpr.com

Alternatively I have made an executive decision and will drop out and umpiring. The bye system is not fair on people who have travelled and 'forced' pairing is also unfair.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Bob. :D

My top 3:

Me first.
Bob A second.
And in third I'm going to plump for Hugh providing he doesn't have to play me.

And the wooden spoon I'm opting for poor Bob M.

After the stuffing I got last night (by Mr Hogan) in our final practice game anything out of the bottom three places will be a good result for me this weekend...!!!

Thanks Paul and all my opponents for a great weekend.

Big apologies to John in our last game as I took 3 of his BG's out by counting the -1 for my own base edge which doesn't count for him.

The jelly babies must have gone to my head.

Many thanks to everybody for a great weekend.

It was fun walking round watching each game. Normally watching one game is like watching paint dry but with 9 games going on by the time I had walked round each one there had been some action on the table where I started.

The last round was so very close. At the start of the last round anyone of 8 players had a chance to win. And, with 5 minutes to go there were three players still capable of being the champion.

Marco failed to pick up the one attrition point needed to propel him upwards and Dave Morrison’s lancers charging into the rear of Bob Amey’s unit failed to beat them and secure the attrition point he needed to beat Bob and leapfrog Bob to the top!

So that left Bob Amey sitting pretty.

Also notable in the last round was that all 4 of Bob Amey’s generals were killed. Dave Saunders also managed to despatch all 4 of Any Ellis’s generals too.

I reckon by the end I know the rules well enough to umpire properly next time !!

Gordon Jamieson walked away with the Mr Average prize this year.

The results were

1. Bob Amey Early Successor 279BC 63
2. Dave Morrison Dailami Dynasties 935AD 59
3. Marco Baroni Classical Indian 5AD 56
4. Robert Taylor Pyrrhic 272BC 55
5. John Hogan Warring States To Western Han Chinese 1AD 53
6. Andy Ellis Thracian 25BC 51
=7. Chris Proudfoot Dailami Dynasties 1050AD 50
=7. Hugh Cameron Early Successor 285BC 50
=7. Hunter Hope Late Achaemenid Persian 420BC 50
10. Gordon Jamieson Principate Roman 99AD 49
11. George Dick Post-Roman British 790AD 48
12. Richard Butler Chimu 850AD 47
13. John Muir Later Ptolemaic 56BC 39
14. Dave Saunders Later Seleucid 125BC 38
15. Graeme Carroll Later Hindu North Indian 1066AD 31
16. Malcolm Gordon Classical Indian 50AD 30
17. John Edwards Graeco-Bactrian 210BC 25
18. Bob Middlemist Feudal Scots 1052AD 2

So Pete you just need to check that Rob:

Has a legal army!
Has at least some representative figures!!
Does not arrive late!!!
Does NOT count a -1 for BGs near opponents long edge!!!!

But those did not spoil our game which was a good hard fought game that we both enjoyed (but I did win 11-9)

This was one of the 'best' games I have ever played. After 1 hour I thought that it was going to be all over very quickly (elephants showing rears to my pikes and unable to get away). But oh no. The rubber pikes in the center were useless and it turned into a slog going Dave's way and then back again. It ended 10-10 and both of us loosing 16 points out of 17.

As Paul says it came to a climax when the Thracians were charged in the rear by lancers 4 dice needing 5s v my 3 dice needing 5s. I win 1-0 and the lancers drop. I turn by block of 6 figures so in the melee I have 4 dice to his 3 and I win 3-1 and he routs!! Amazing!!

I certainly hope so. I really wouldn't appreciate seeing him unrobed.
