only 3 games to go: ian vs scipioasinus, ian vs lydianed, scipioasinus vs lascar. No pressure!

I will post the challenges details for round 2 on Thursday 7 Feb, so people who have been waiting around for a few days can get started again. I don't want them to get all soft!

Iandavidsmith (Abbassids) 19/32 win
vrs
Lydianed (Saffarids) 38/35 loss

A straight forward fight , the Abbassids clumped all of the Gilman together on one flank
while the remainder of the army on the other. The Saffarids matched them , no big mistakes
or brilliant manoeuvres to write home about, just a big slugfest with the Abbassids coming out on top this day.

There was a sandwich feast after the battle that songs will be sung about for years to come.

Ian does himself a disservice. The Abbasids got very much the better of the initial clash and kept pushing the Saffarids hard. The Saffarids tried to extend the right wing to encircle the Abbasid left but had too few troops for the manouevre and the Abbasids refused to get drawn too far forward. Saffarids failed to successfully combine and cav to tip the balance against the enemy Ghilman. The guy delivering sandwiches (not for the snack-hungry Abbasids) arrived way too late and was met with a somewhat hostile reception. Well played Ian.

ScipioAsinus (Seljuks ) 22/35 win
vrs
Iandavidsmith (Abbassids) 32/32 loss

The Dailami kept to the broken hills and plantation but where unable to make contact with the
horseman shooting at them , the Abbassids Ghilman caught some of the Turcomans on the same flank
while the Seljuks Ghilman created havoc on the other flank. The Abbasids tried to reinforce them but where caught in
the middle as the scattered remains of the Abbassid army was routed.

Thanks to everybody for my games and i look forward to the reverse battens , and maybe revenge , next round.

guys, remember you must choose desert maps (unless none offered). 3 out of 5 of my games are on green maps (i won initiative the other 2!) so i suspect people are forgetting about it. just for more realism.

I did not see a challenge for me on the boards (I saw vs Turks and vs Saffrids). For me It should be vs Ghaznavids.
