Hi there

I may not have mentioned this but will be away from a computer from today until Monday PM (GMT).

Hopefully all match ups will be completed.

Please pm me with players for each game please and I will post it ASAP/PDQ.

Should be back on the computer by 2.30pm GMT on the Monday so everything should be updated then.

Again check out the rules and regs about which player issues the first challenge and let the battles commence.

Looking forward to it and best of luck to all.

Cheers

Eric

Massina and Triarius

Have received pms from Hidde and batesmotel with reference to who will be using what armies.

Could you pm me with your choices as well please.

Hidde's choices are fixed for all 3 games and I think it will be the same for batesmotel. Your call on that.

Cheers

Hi gents

If we could have the first player (eg jonno, TGM etc) issue the challenge and then we can begin.

Remember both players must choose the same terrain.

Game 4 (open) Alexandrian Macedonian(NA) – Deeter vs Late Archie Persians (ROTW) - tullius
Game 5 (very open) Alexandrian Macedonian (ROTW) – Fedem vs Late Archie Persians (NA) - batesmotel

Europe vs UK and Ireland

Game 1 (very crowded) Classical Indian (UK&Eire) – stockwellpete vs Thracian(Europe) - cavehobbit
Game 2 (crowded) Classical Indian(Europe) – Finir vs Skythian (UK&Eire) - ericdoman1
Game 3 (mixed) Achmaenid (UK&Eire) – maharg25 vs Macedonian(Europe) - dvorkin
Game 4 (open) Achmaenid (Europe) – hidde vs Macedonian (UK&Eire) - ianiow

Game 1 (very crowded)
Thracian(ROTW) – jonno vs Classical Indian(NA) - iversonjm

My Lord Teres
We are about to give battle to the invading Indian scum. Our intelligence report (a guess) is that the Indians have fewer of those large grey beasts than might typically be expected, and having seized the initiative (rolling a 6) we feel confident on giving battle in a clearing about 1/2 days march from the Black Sea.

The enemy are a field - they are spread across the field so it is difficult to gauge their numbers, though it seems are are similar in number to our noble band. And none of those grey beasts in sight - though I have heard they keep them hidden and bring them out to cause fear
(does fog apply to elephants)

Where are those damn grey beasts - I know they have some on this field....

We are continuing to advance behind a screen of light infantry.

The Indians are showing patience - and are prepared to stand and use their bows. I have had one of my guard climb a tree to try and gain a sense of the emeny dispositions - but in vain.
No matter we will close with them soon enough.

We have engaged with the enemy along the entire line, although without being certain of the enemies dispositions I am reluctant to get too far from the woods.

They have engaged us with cavalry and heavy chariots, which are causing discomfort to our troops on the right flank who are in the open. I shall try and minimize the damage on this flank and press forward on the left.

Their General is dead!!!!
A well thrown pila by a soldier in one of our spear units hit their general and knocked from the the elephant he was riding. He fell to the ground stone dead. This seemed to have little immediate impact on the army. I suspect this general was not well loved.

Our attack through the woods on the left is proceeding well if slowly and I am confident this will bring us victory.

Victory - the enemy has begun to flee the field. The battle is ours

Turn 0
The Thracians taking advantage of their home position (and rolling a 6) have selected a field on which to face the invading Indian scum...
Turn 1
Not much happens... Move forward
Turn 2
Send three and fourpence were going to a dance...
Turn 3
A bit of bow fire - and the Thracians march forward.
...
Turn 6
This has turned into a brawl...
Not much room for subtly here. Just punch them in the mouth.
...
Turn 8
The Indian CinC is dead - so hopfully that will give the Thracians the melee / break test edge and prove decisive.

Turn 10
A few cascading morale tests are starting to occur...

Turn 11
Game over - victory to the Thracians - good close game.
Thracian(ROTW) – jonno (68/76) vs Classical Indian(NA) - iversonjm (83/79)

The battle

Note to the wish list builder - a key to toggle on fog on both sides - so we can easily publish these.

sent tullius a pm already.

I know this is not the right link but Steve/Pantherboy has a new position/promotion and more work to do.

Based on that he may well struggle to play let alone organise LOEG Season 8.

I have pmd him about the spreadsheet and help with this.

Hopefully he may be able to play in 1 or 2 divisions but again spreading the news and wondering if other players could help out. Prob just looking after 1 division and the sub divisions (A, B and C) per player.

My suggestion would be pre 1BC (IF and ROR), 1 BC to 493 AD (IF, ROR and LT), 494 AD to 1100 AD (LT, DAF and SAS), 1101 to 1500 AD but a west and an eastern division (SOA, SAS and EtE/ SAS, ETE and DAF). Five divisions in total.

Will include something in the LOEG link tomorrow.

BTW come on guys there should be a few more challenges being issued and keep us all upto date with the games.

I've accepted Fedem's challenge and won the initiative. We're fighting in the desert and the water hole is on my side of the map so the Macedonian invaders have their work cut out for them ;-).

I have started my match with cavehobbit. I am Comical Indians and Pers-Anders is the Thracians (no clients). He is up a big slope and I am on the plain and he has started by parading his light cavalry in front of me - so I have decided to shoot them up a bit. To be continued . . .
