yes 1940 and other deducter's changes seems to be right too, and the unit is still a decent choice
sturmpanzer is not the king of arty (I've got only two - because of low ammo - but it's a terror shark in '39 & '40 and a *** '41 can make good losses on tanks in '41...; far from the reality of battles in this years

It acts like one of the late war SP artilleries, when it really wasnt anything like that, should be changed to better reflect reality in my humble opinion.

That looks much more balanced with the massively increased cost combined with reduced damage. I'd still prefer a 1 range with a cheap cost, I think. There simply should not be self-propelled artillery with any sort of range at that point in the war. It's unbalancing and ahistoric.

Based on my playtesting, the Sturmpanzer I with my stats is not that great. It may be ahistorical to field more than 1 of them, but I don't see why anyone would, considering all the drawbacks: extremely low ammo, low attack, especially HA, low speed, vulnerability to air attacks, high cost.

From a gameplay perspective, range 1 artillery needs to have high defenses, like the StuG IIIB. Otherwise such units are much too vulnerable for use.

I am going to leave an extensive comment in your thread as to not derail this thread too much but I do recommend everyone check out Dedcuter's mod. I am kind of an anti-mod guy and it took some doing to finally become motivated to try it but it really makes the game infinitely deeper.

I agree. I am enjoying it quite a bit - a nice evolutionary change after getting a good handle on the game.
