Victory to team Alexander - Parthians 47/58 take down the Armenians 64/60.

On a pretty clear map the Parthian lights got the better of the Armenian lights gaining a lead. The cataphracts then outmuscled the Armenian heavy troops before a revival by the Armenian lights could take full effect. A competitive game. Thanks Lysimachos.

Go team Wolrd.

Any news on the remaining games?... particularly those 2 games with no feedback at all?

The Hannibal vs Caesar is a nailbiter and I'm already down to my knuckles! You don't realise how long this is taking me to type this with only stumps!

The skirmishers gained the top of the mountains and started to shower the enemy with missiles. The Hatrans meantime lined their army up in three ranks centrally. First rank archers, second rank archers and third rank everything else!
Oye, how that map can be considered "very open" is beyond my understanding

You forgot to meantion the mountains (steep hills) were surounded by corn fields... Great for medium archers bad for our cats whom are now all in soup bowls...

batesmotel (Bosporan(mid)) - 42/65
Triarius (Armenian(Khusrov I)) - 25/53

So far Triarius cataphracts and allied Roman legionaries are blowing out my infantry center while I'm only making slow progress on both flanks. So far I think luck has definitely favored the Armenians but having to fight better quality troops almost all the way along the line has made it a battle that favors the Armenians. Even on my right flank where I've concnetrated the Bosporan lancers against the Alan allies he has armoured lancers and protected cavalry horse archers versus my armoured and protected lancers and unprotected horse archers. This map with a stream about a 1/4-1/3 of the way in from my left flank has made it really hard to bring the limited Bosporan numeric superiority to bear.

Win for Alexander

davouthojo (Carthaginians) 15/64 vs razorback77 (Bosphorans) 50/50

The Lancers kept bouncing on the spears....meanwhile the Gauls and Celtiberians defeated the HF centre, while the MF and cavalry polished off the Bosphoran right flank. Some good dice helped.

Thanks for the game!

batesmotel(Bosporan) 52/65
Triarius (Armenian) 34/53

Armenians are starting to crumble but not fast enough. Luck continues to favor the Armenians or so it seems. Lost a general this turn and a LF that charged a LH in the rear ended the turn with both the LF and LH disordered. Thank goodness for the auto-drop for the rear attack.

Looks like this is grinding to its inevitable end barring a tremendous swing in luck.

8 points versus 11 points. A bad roll or two and a chain cohesion loss could spell doom for either side.

Punch drunk but the Armenian Cataphracts and Roman allies in the centre had enough left to beat up the fragmented Bosporan cavalry remaining after their punishing fight with the Alans and to envelop the remnants of the Bosporan infantry on the Bosporan left. Very much touch and go and very very tight - neither side had any punch left anywhere.

Triarius - Armenians 43/52
Batesmotel Bosporans 67/65

An update on my game with Steve-h8:

Expecting the usual Bosporan spam of zillions of poor LF back up by lancers and bow cav, my Punies were prepared to herd them off the map on a broad front. Although we were supposed to fight on a mixed map, it's more like a wide-open bowl surrounded by a rim of rough and regular hills.

Turns out, Steve brought about 20 superior armored lancers, a few dozen LH bow and some miscelaneous foot. Seeing this, I bravely headed for the hills on one edge of the map. At turn 4, we are just coming to grips with some lancer anarchy to get things started. Stay tuned.

At the mo I am on 6/65 and deadtorius is on 55/58

Based on combats have been "hugely (if such a word exists)", in my favour. No steroids required?

We both chose open terrain but even if a fraction of the map has dodgy terrain, it does not make it open.

I would have struggled on an open terrain.

Although when you have imp foot facing bowmen (in the flank) and mf lt spear vs imp foot/sword and catching light troops, it does help.

Here's an update on my battle with steve-h8:

Both sides engaged in the rough terrain on one map edge with our MF (those Brutian vets are nasty!) while the enemy lancers and even LH are executing relentless wild frontal charges against my spears and elephants. These came down off the hills and are slowly advancing in good order.

Although the lancers have been bouncing and regrouping for more charges, they're not making much impression on my Punies. The Bosporans are down 30/50 (mostly dead lancers and MF) and they're C-n-C just fell in a charge against elephants. The Punies are down about 20/68 (mostly LF) and otherwise in good order for now.

Battle results:

Later Carthage (Aftrica) deeter 32/68 vs. Bosporans (mid) steve-H8 50/50.

The lancers never managed to find a way around the Punic lines and died in frontal attacks. Thanks for the game, Steve!
Chalk one up for Team Ceasar.
