Bruce is there any particular style of army you want bringing?
More than happy to bring anything needed as it will be my first time playing and have no delusions at all of success lol!!!

Let me know, should be able to field pretty much anything.

Hi Steve,

Not sure at the moment. Initial army lists are in but still too early to tell if there are any missing sections yet.

I would suggest you bring what you like or think would be good. There is value in seeing how people interpret what makes a good army.

Cheers,

- Bruce.

OK Bruce will do. Looking at trying to bring an army with as many different troop types in it as possible to see how each plays.
Not sure it will be "good" though!!

To be honest I am not sure that anyone knows what is any good. That is half the fun at the moment.

I'm still trying to figure out what to take and I wondering if there is any value in me taking the Ghaznavid Panzer Corps (albeit modified to be legal) as a comparision to Usk. Any thoughts?

I am sure someone else would like to give them, or something similar, a try.

Fair enough. I'll come up with something else then.

Thanks for everyone who has sent army lists in already. I'll be reviewing this tomorrow morning once I have sorted my own list out. ;-)

One question that has sprung to mind concerns the mix of established play-testers and players new the game. This is going to lead to a lot of questions and issues for the first couple of the games. What do people think about trying to help smooth this out by drawing established players against new players in the first round of Leeds?

I was going to suggest that myself - I know some of us havent even managed one game yet!

On the one hand it would lead to a smoother start, and mean games will work better betwenn noobs later on. On the other hand - would it be a better play test to watch us noobs struggle through our first games?

Personally I would rather play someone who had a bit more of a clue for the first game.

already with the bunny bashing! Seriously though, a very good idea. It should allow a smoother transition past the basics.

I think its an excellent idea and hope it will be implemented.

I think we will get plenty out of the play testing even with this approach, so from my point of view I think pairing experienced players with new players is a good idea.

Another minor point Bruce. Whatever draw is used we should treat Terry, Richard and I as a club and make sure we don't play each other - I think we've had enough of that!!

Looking forward to it. Could we get a new posting put up called ARMYS FOR LEEDS with whose in and with what so we can chatter away.

No secrets from em - I am bringing classical Indain with max chariots and lots of MF bow for people to ride down in the open. SHould give me plenty of time to wander around an watch other games !!!

Bruce

I am planning on bringing a Swiss Pike army to Leeds. Leeds will only be my 2nd or 3rd game as my first game is on Monday with the Swiss. Unfortunately I can only make the Saturday. After my initial read I am looking forward to playing and seeing how the Swiss do under the system.

Martin

PS where do I send my list??

I am sure there will be players attending with even less games than you!

On the one hand Swiss is excellent! But on the other hand it is Swiss! ;-)

You need to send me the list at b_d_d_brown@yahoo.co.uk.

I shoulod subtitle this post 'On the Scrounge'.

I just got back into the country, and clled into the office on the way home to pick up my Sagitarii, and to my horror, have discovered I ordered too few.

I've placed another order, but it's a bit of a long-shot that they'll get here in time for me to paint them.

So here's the rub: Does anyone have two bases of Light Horse archers I could borrow at Leeds?

Phil,

I have some later Roman horse archers or some Skythian horse archers or some Sassanid ones but no early Roman ones. You are more than welcome to borrow any of the above. Take your pick.

This is all part of my plan to get my troops into as many armies as possible so my lads have the biggest chance of winning :)

Cheers Hammy.

I've not managed to find minis for Early Imperial horse archers, so the two bases I ordered are for Late Imperial, so a couple more bases of that breed would be excellent.

Can't promise that having minis in my army will increase your odds of winning anything, though :/

Bruce,
were any special arrangements made about car parking fees?

Cheers

Afraid not. As we are not charging for this event and the BHGS is not funding it then we cannot fund any subsidy for the car park. Sorry.
