It's fine by me as the one who pointed this out. I'm even willing to restart my game with Grumblefish if he wants to field them against me. (I think all I've done is to deploy so far.)
Chris
Yes please; I will surrender and then if you put the challenge up again I'll accept it with the new army.

I TOTALLY OBJECT!!!
OK, not really, just kidding. I actually don't recall playing the Spartans at all, so perhaps I get to play them still? Or am I done?

Hmm, you're right, I don't recall playing a round against you. I have set up a challenge with the password "objection".

Deeter (Ipsos Alliance) 47/58 vs. The GreyMouser (Lysimachid) 64/62
The battlefield was very open except for some steep hills on one flank. Both armies sent their MF to contest the hills and most of their cav to the other flank while the mighty phalanxes maneuvered for advantage in the center. Ultimately, the Alliance was successful on both flanks. Enough so that Ipsos won the day.

Well, I reckon Kilroy, Gudin and Grumblefish need a few wins, so I've pasted 3 challenges (1 each

).
The password is "Diadochi" and I'm looking for something to help turn around my terrible form of late... although spears versus pikes isn't likely to do it soon

Great news, everybody's favourite Hellenic Army has finally managed to win a battle!
Grumblefish (Hellenic Sparta) 48/66 v Kilroy (Seleucids) 56/54
GG Kilroy.

Unfortunately, you set the one I took to Rise of Rome only, which means I can't put my army in. I have selected a random RoR army and will resign when it gives me the chance

batesmotel(Pyrrhus) - 30/56 win
grumblefish (Spartans) - 65/60
For their first outing, the Spartiate hoplites didn't hold up long enough for their MF and cavalry to win the battle on the flanks. Thanks for a good game.

Yeh, the flanks were a disaster, but I was pretty impressed by the spartan hoplites.
The later list is much better, if anybody is curious. Basically, Later Sparta gets double the number of superior units, more than double the amount of cavalry, and impact swordsmen MF and HF.

batesmotel (Pyrrhus) - 50/56 win
deeter (Ipsos alliance) - 58/58
A bloody hard fought match where both armies were virtually exhausted. The final two points was one of Deeter's pikes that autobroke vs two of mine that were both close to doing so. Thanks for an excellent game.

Aw, shucks. I wish I had fired up FoG before I checked the forum. Now I know the ending before seeing it. Kind of like opening the newspaper and reading your own obituary. Anyway, a tough game highlighted by my center entirelly disintegrating!

As you can see from the table above, round one of the Diadochi tournament is drawing to a close. My final game is nearly over so that will make four players with completed matches and three still in progress. There are three challenges posted that have not been accepted yet. Please accept these games and/or post any remaining challenges so we can move on to round two.
For lack of any other input, round two will consist of of the top ranked player challenging the fifth ranked player, with the second ranked player challening the sixth ranked player, etc. The winners of round two will advance to round three following the challenge routine from round one. The two survivors of round three will face off for the championship and all the marbles.
With the exception of Batesmotel (who is in fact leading) the RoR armies are not doing very well, even in the hands of skilled commanders. This is due, no doubt, to them being spear armies. If all agree, I would like to allow these players the option to chose from any of the original four Diadochi armies provided it is a different army than the challengers. Your thoughts?
Finally, I am having tremendous fun playing in this tournament and I hope the rest of you are too.

Don't feel bad, my armoured hoplites have been getting slaughtered by pikes in LOEG

In a masochistic sort of way I'm enjoying it too.... and learning lots... mainly what doesn't work!
