« Aule, where is the wine ? »

Second Etruscan Army moves on Cosae
- north-west, roll 10 + 1 road - 1 status = move and continue
- north-west, roll 4 + 1 road - 1 status = move and continue
- north-west, roll 9 + 1 road - 1 status = move on Cosae and stay here.

Roman Army II
Move SW: roll dice 3 > 1 moves and can keep moving (farmland)
Move NW (to Vulcii): roll dice 3 > 1 moves and can keep moving
Move NW: roll dice 1 - failed to move.

Roman Army II stays at Vulci.

Both Etruscan Armies are in supply.

Etruscan Operation #7: ARMY.
  • Army I SIEGE => 1 => No effect.
  • Army II MOVE NE => 10 => Move successful.
(Why couldn't we get it the other way around?!?)

Does Roman Army II in Vulci stand and fight, or does it retreat?

It is my honour to be appointed Consul for the day

Die roll for terrain is 7 (sorry, didn't label before rolling) - so Mediterranean Agricultural.
1st (and only) battle for both armies, no other strength modifiers, so 1550 pts each.
Etruscans are attackers, so are side A and will move first.

Since this is the second battle of Vulci (Vulci II), the password is: VulciII

Yes, I’m in the middle of it. First blood has been shed, unfortunately mostly Etruscan. Got a bad feeling about this (but then again I always do), but will fight until the end Etruscan style.

Given the generally poor historical accounts of the Etruscans, does that mean you will be running away soon? :)

It’s called a clever tactical reorganization move from the perspective of improving real racing skills and promoting leg day.

You can’t dare to talk about it otherwise !

The second battle of Vulci has resulted in a decisive victory for the Romans!

Our Italians heroically defended some terrain on our right, allowing the legions to advance and charge, with remarkably lucky disruption success, while the Roman cavalry, supported by the Triarii, demonstrated on the other flank. Two of the Etruscan leaders fell tying to turn the tide but to no avail. I suspect that the resulting momentum will be good for my political cause, as well as the Roman cause :D

The weakened Etruscan army must now roll on the retreat attrition table, and choose its retreat hex.

Yes, it was a well-deserved Roman victory, and as you say Decisive at that: 40-9 (+31). Congrats!

Etruscan Army II retreats SW, rolling a 4, resulting in yet another Status reduction, from Strong to Disarrayed.
