Field a little bit narrowed due to water course. Hill and rough on the left and a patch of rough on the right. Germans brought lots of Knights and medium (armoured) cavalry, supported by spearmen and raw crossbowmen. They angled their advance left to right, moving away from the water. Sicilians occupied the hill on the left with Arab foot and spearmen with mounted Knights to the right and centre and archers in the rough. Sicilians pushed their right forward as the Germans angled their movement away and managed to catch a couple of stragglers before the opposing Knights clashed in the centre. The Germans pushed towards the hill on the left and had enough Knights to charge vs spearmen in the Sicilian centre/left. Once the armies were fully engaged there was not much change in the lines and it came down to who could hold out the longest. Scores were pretty level the whole way through and it came down to small wins, such as a rallying Sicilian armoured spearmen unit blocking a German Knight from making a rear charge it had set up the previous turn - that charge could have broken what remained of the Sicilian left and gave the Sicilians the time they needed to charge their units, which had penetrated from the right, into the back of the German centre and get the breaks to move above 60 points. A very close match which could easily have gone the other way. GG

hscic (Lythuanian 1455 - 1500) defeats dragmio (Polish 1455 - 1500) 47%-63%. Score 73 - 47

The battle developed in two distinct areas with some barricades acting as a hinge. After a long attrition fight the Lithuanians managed to narrowly prevail over the Polish whose heavy cavalry fails to be decisive. TY dragmio for the match. It was a hard fight.

A lot of rough and a stream across the middle with the main hills on the Order of St John side. A very tight game saw crossbowmen fight against crossbowmen with bolts and in melee. Heavy infantry clashed to the left in open ground between a hill and rough. This was a narrow area which did not allow the Genoese billmen to all get engaged and some units waiting were fortunately disrupted through a rout in the front line. Genoese were weaker on their other wing and took more losses there, Order of St John were weaker in the centre after their medium foot came off worse, but a couple of mounted Men at Arms made it difficult for Genoese to move out of the rough to exploit their numbers there. Eventually Genoa just took more casualties; although there was no decisive victory in one area of the line the Order of St John caused more routs to claim victory. GG

Another match with an uncertain outcome. In fact, it resulted in a confused cavalry fight where the Polish narrowly prevailed thanks to the resilience of their heavy cavalry. TY to dragmio also for this hard fought battle.

Just 5 results left, one in Div A and 4 in Div B.

As the Egyptians shifted most of their forces toward the weaker Byzantine left wing of raw spears and medium cav, the Byzantine right of knights, klibs, and S&A followed up to fight the stragglers.

Epic struggle probably determined by two very tough stands by fragmented Imperial units.

Another extremely close contest vs Triarii, but one where the Sicilians seemed to be a couple of turns away from a decisive lead. Germans moved away from the Sicilians who had made better occupation of the high ground on the left of the battlefield. As Germans were forming a line with a bit of distance between them and the hill and rough terrain they were harassed by lots of light horse. Sicilians brought mainly Knights and missile troops. The Knights caused plenty of problems causing multiple cracks in the German line, but were unable to break through. German spearmen and low country spearmen proved very resilient and a dismounted knight unit tanked about 80% of the Sicilian missiles without flinching (until auto breaking). Towards the end the match was more even as the Sicilian Knights weakened, but I don't know how the battle was won. I finished my 22nd turn 59-58 down, but during the rally phase things happened and Germans were in front 60-57.

All matches in this HOML4 Medieval division were very enjoyable and super close. Thanks to my opponents and also tyronec for organising. I have 4 minutes left, but will leave it there

I agree with Lennard on 1200 point armies.

[Edit] For Medieval, that is. Ancients is great at 1600.
