The Hebrews massed their lights swarm on their left flank along a riverside, forcing the Philisitines to advance while taking casualties. Meanwhile, the weaker Hebrew right flank delayed getting into the action, while also preventing the Philistine chariots from flanking the infantry.

The Hebrew chariots advanced on the weaker Philistine chariots while the Philistine infantry and lights forced the retreating Hebrew infantry to make contact. The victorious Hebrew chariots were delayed by pursuing and infantry in enclosures. Meanwhile, with some Hebrew general deaths, the Hebrew infantry collapsed.
