The Admiral is all in favor of some Naval battles. Scenarios with all 3 branches are also fun.

Celeborn wrote: Mon Jan 16, 2023 9:10 pm OOB tournaments scenarios tends to favor the bold but in my (admittedly limited) experience with Caen it seems the most viable German strategy against a competent opponent is to just try to hold Caen proper. The Allies can try to force a crossing north or south of the city but this isn't hard to counter if the German player is paying attention and employs some judicious combat engineering (ie bridge goes boom).
My initial plan as Brits against blondus was predicated on countering the sort of Caen as Stalingrad that I was expecting (and I executed myself as Germans). His Tank Rush was rather a hard counter to that plan though so I pivoted to a heavy focus on the North (with two crossings built). That did enough to force some defenders out of Caen, but I was still only able to partially capture.

With some better decisions I think that I might have been able to take his HQ with that Northern pincer. I got a few shots in but was overextended and had to pull back and just take the points for unit kills by the end.

 I share your pain! Yes, mixed-arms scenarios are the most interesting, for me, I'm not personally a fan of pure naval, but they can be fun for a change. I just don't think that (in general) the naval scenarios have quite the same scope for different tactical approaches.

I also fully agree with Erik than an extra 5 days on the clock would be a godsend for getting games completed.

Will do a proper announcement soon, but I've put the next tournament live.

Could have called it "rth's tournament" as it's his list of maps :)

Also, upped the round time to 18 days as a compromise to the requests for some more time to play the rounds.

Danke macht weiter so

My congratulations to the winner
and yes it was nice to see that there was a change at the top

Of course I would have treated AdmiralYamamoto again

Hi,

There is something i don't understand in the calculation of the victory points in my games
Scenario Caen. Opponent Dolphin0810

Seen from my side...

In my 2 games i was victorious (the last screen showed Victory)
In one of them i scored 75VP, my opponent scored 61VP. I don't remember the VP on the second game, all i remember is that i have a few VP more than him
My total score is 138 (so supposedly i had 63pts in the 2nd game wich give the total of 138)
My opponent has a total of 185. So it seems he has earned 185-61=124VP in the 2nd game
How is it possible ?
Does somebody can explain to me please ?

Thanks,

Congratulations Celeborn on your victory is this one. I am glad I could be of so much help to you.😁 I will try not to spend that $3.75 all in one place. I am hoping to get some revenge in our Market Garden games.

I pushed the tournament button and it said that I just signed up! I was really just trying to find information on the tournaments such as how they are played, what games and so forth. I am hoping that once it gets started it will need a confirmation by participants and I'm not messing anything up. I've played the games for years and have most of them, but it doesn't look like I have the ones in this tournament. Guess I'm not really prepared to be in the tournament, but will join one in the future once I know more about what I am doing. I used to do pretty good in the old hexwar.net tournaments.

Welcome!

All the tournament challenges are in the base game, but they're multiplayer only so you'll need to run a HotSeat or Multiplayer game to practice on them
