Curses! I must get some better reading glasses! I will scrub that challenge and resubmit with the appropriate ally.

Similarly, I hope lascar hasn't forgotten his own Armenian ally! It might be new reading glasses all around...

Lascar's Rus 1050 -1154 are invited to collect some Hungarians en route to Spain to meet PeterThePainter' s Andalusian 1050- 1154 in open battle. Will it be a battle on the plains of Spain or in the Sierra? Password Dave.

Time travelling Spanish Sertorius 80 -70BC have challenged Kiwiwarlord's Macedonian 328 -321 BC to battle. We have heard a rumour in Spain that A list general Alexander has passed on command to B list Brian is it true? You are the password.

Doyley50 (Germanic Foot Tribes 105BC-205AD) defeated gort7078 (Gallic 300-101 BC) 54-29.
The Germanic Tribe foot managed to overcome the Gallic infantry while the enemy cavalry were occupied on the flank. Good game thanks gort, I thought it was going to go the other way.

Andre given a Teutonic Tonic - who will stop the German Juggernaut?
Schnuckelchen Knuddelbär of the
Teuton Daily Mirror reported today that a bunch of English louts from the bowels of England's nether regions were repulsed by a band of valiant
Teutonic Toilettenreinigers. (Or, should that read they were repulsed by the English louts nether regions)
Either way, the English had clearly found themselves in a pickle (and not the tasty kind) after visiting the local
Bierhalle. Having forgotten to reconnoiter the surrounding countryside, they found themselves hemmed in to the far left of the field with the entire Teutonic command bearing down on them. With little room to fire and evade due to a large plateaued central hill topped with a swaths of rough thorny German bramble, and patches of rough to their front, the English managed as best they could. The heavy concentration of light foot, medium arquebusiers and bowmen repulsed those Reivers (or should I say beerhall revelers) daring to venture over the hill. While several units did manage to venture out to the flanks and around the German juggernaut, it was too little, too late. The resulting loss of 52% to 25% could have been much worse. This high toll inflicted on the Teutons was mainly due to Andre's experienced generalmanship in leading several sneaky and successive flank attacks on exposed Teutonic supporting troops.Yet, this reporter can but commiserate with Andre's futile position. The terrain combined with such a relentless and determined attack by the enemy would have but one inevitable outcome.

All kudos to Gavin for his superb generalship. The entire right half of the table was a huge forest, half the remainder was the rough hill (with difficult sides). My deployment zone was just the left quarter of the table (I've never seen that before).
We tried to push through on the extreme left and engage him as best we could frontally but Gavin's brilliant use of lancer light horse to engage our light horse with immediate support from knights and pike put us on the back foot from the start, his missile men then joined in to create further mayhem. Our army being unable to use its usual shoot and scoot, with the occasional flank charge, we soon decided to return home with no gold, no cattle, no women, and no cheese to show for our efforts.

Battle of the Bog and the Golden Sponge of dreams.
markleslie Gallic 300-101 BC defeats GDod Slav 500-832 AD 42-7.
It's a brave man that brings a knife to a gun fight braver still to advance through open fields to meet the Veneti. Now we know why Slavs make useful allies in other armies but not so much in their own.

Another gauntlet thrown down for the Kiwiwarlord (perhaps I can confuse you if I play a number of different battles with you at the same time?). The Spanish 1494 are waiting for your Ottomans 1494 on the P&S multiplayer challenges when you are ready. Usual password.
Note to Gavin. You may have missed that My Spanish Sertorius have challenged Brian's Macedonians and we are currently staring at each other across the battlefield while I file a report to the RSPCA about Brian's use of circus animals in his army. When I was at school the Macedonians didn't have Elephants and I studied the subject under the heading current affairs not ancient history.
