Karvon (Slave Revolt) defeated GeneralKostas (Romans) 40-7
The battle
Team 3 60 + (40-7) = 60 + 33 = 93
Team 6 = 7
This round
93 + 31 = 124 for Team 3
100 + 7 = 107 for Team 6
The final scene
The correct team results for the match are :
Team 6 = 93 points
Team 3 = 7 points
So the overall team results for the 2nd round are :
Team 6 - 124 points
Team 3 - 107 points

Karvon (Slave Revolt) defeated GeneralKostas (Romans) 40-7
We chose to fight the Romans in the hills and found a rather favorable field to face our former masters. On our left, a pair of steep hills, one on our baseline and the other just short of the center, looked down on lower slopes well broken up by patches of rough ground. From the our left corner to the latter hill, a rather large forest masked off our left and provided cover and concealment below the hill. Beyond that hill, lay more scattered rough and patches of woods. On our right a low hill sprinkled with a bit of rough and a few trees provided a modest defensive position. More woods fell in our right corner blocking off that flank.
Our plan was pretty simple; we would mass almost our whole force on our left and hide a token force on our right. We would have a pretty strong position to defend on the left should the Romans attempt an aggressive approach and we had a fairly good avenue of advance through broken ground for an overloaded assault on their right, if the Romans deployed more towards the open ground on their left.
The Romans deployed a handful of mixed medium foot on their right opposite the central hill and rough ground screened by a few light foot. The legion was massed in the middle facing the more open ground with cavalry covering their left. A lone elephant stood between the legion and the auxiliaries.
We immediately set our light foot out to sweep ahead on our left, sticking to rough ground where feasible. Masses of slaves swarmed behind them in support. I threw out a few slaves to secure broken ground forming a chain along the right flank of my advance towards and over the central hill. My token cavalry demonstrated on the right to draw off his cavalry. The slaves were not very disciplined so shifting left took me more time than I originally planned. I initially kept my right wing hidden hoping to stir alarm and possibly come in on flanks or rears if the legion got bogged down driving my defenders out of the broken ground.
The Romans boldly advanced their mediums and lights supported by the elephant into the path of my oncoming hordes on their right. A sharp short skirmish between our lights ended with most of his fleeing, thanks to my superior numbers and closer support of my slaves. My lights began to envelop his mediums and shoot at his elephant. He charged to drive them off, which spread out his force a little too much. Our skirmishers wore him down a little, disordering a couple of units. Our following slaves came to grip with these and ground them down. The elephant chased lights and then tried to overrun one of our slave pickets in the rough near the base of our central hill resulting in a slow fight. Our skirmishers moved on into a marsh behind the medium foot battle and began harassing legionaries, some of whom had turned to face the growing threat on their right. The Roman light and heavy cavalry danced around on our right, but we had safely shifted our horse thru the massed slaves and our slave pickets in the rough or on higher ground deterred them from pressing to hard. The legion began to wheel right to provide support to their surviving auxiliaries, so we pushed our right wing force out of hiding and began picking our way through rough ground and patches of trees on our right. He responded to this force by breaking off several legionaries from his main line and wheeling to face my advance.
We flanked and broke the last of his mediums and our slaves dressed their lines in the rough to face the legion. A large block of slaves swung around the marsh held by our light to threaten the end of the legion's line. We pushed some slaves off the central hill and flanked the embattled elephant. It finally broke in the following hour and that pushed the Romans over the edge and the legions retired to the safety of their camp.
We are Spartacus!
The battle
Team 3 60 + (40-7) = 60 + 33 = 93
Team 6 = 7
This round
93 + 31 = 124 for Team 3
100 + 7 = 107 for Team 6
The final scene
Nice win, Karvon! Way to offset my loss!

Team 8 Aetius39 (Romans) defeated Team 4 snooky51(Slave Revolt) 50-23
Not an easy win for the Romans. The slaves used their numerical strength to try and swarm the legions, while the Romans, aware of this, tried to avoid that. There was quite a bit of rough and hill too which made moving harder. It really came down to quality of units at the end, as the Romans (mainly) were able to avoid too many flanks and their better experienced legions eventually broke down the slave units. GG!
Team 8 - 87 points
Team 4 - 23 points

Carpenkm (brave slaves) beat MarcoCato75 (Roman Overlords) 43 -18
Really sorry about the delay to finishing this. Non-overlapping holidays and a long drawn out battle going to about 20 turns.
The terrain favoured the Free Slaves who camped out on a desolate rough hill with steep slopes eating dried bread and olives while the over fed Romans advanced. Poorly armed oppressed masses held the difficult slopes singing songs about freedom while their mates flooded right and defended a low hill. Inspired by Spartacus they held far longer than they should allowing some flanks and a win before the veteran romans could do their worst. No rallies for the Romans who had obviously realised the error of their ways and a rather premature end which may well have swung back to the Romans if it had gone on longer. Good game and well played, without the rough you would have murdered me!

Rounds 1 and 2 are finished and points are calculated. The lowest 2 teams are dropped and we march onwards to Round 3!
p.s. Always feel free to check my numbers (adding, etc.) as I am terrible with math, along with the possibility of just missing something.
p.p.s. I was surprised at how many slave victories there were. Maybe I shouldn't be? I don't know; was it terrain that helped in the wins, better generalship, thunderbolt from above?^^ I'm not sure. If anyone wants to postulate why feel free to continue this thread here!

I would say the slaves probably benefited from favorable terrain and superior numbers which could lead to more flanking opportunities. In my game, I worked to initially minimize match ups vs legionaries, focusing on dog piling auxiliaries, lights and cavalry with my swarms. Late exposure of some of my swarms from hiding also distracted a number of legionaries from the main battle.

Round 3 - Caesar's Gallic war - Battle of Alesia
So Crassus has beaten up some slaves, and Pompey is starting to look a bit great, but Caesar has nothing yet to show. When in doubt, invade something! And that he did, initiating a huge attempted conquest of Gaul. Things were going fantastic; land was taken, fights were won, Gauls were on the run. But then they weren't. While the Romans are besieging the important fort of Alesia, a huge relief force of Gauls come and begin to besiege the besiegers! Two great generals, two powerful armies. Caesar or Vercingetorix? Salads or French stuff? To arms!

3. Caesar's Gallic war - Battle of Alesia
carpenkm (Roman 105-25 BC) vs. kronenblatt (Gallic 100-50 BC) is now set up, with alesia as password. PM sent as well.
Please note (as communicated earlier to Aetius39) that I'll be away on vacation from Saturday July 10 to Friday August 6, with sporadic access to (and interest in) my gaming computer during that period. Hopefully I won't cause any disruptions to this tournament, such as the need for adjudicated games. I'll fight on, slowly but with great determination.
