Thanks Andréas, that is most helpful to see what challenges are available when you have finished a game.

Would also comment that not knowing where you are going to be in the ladder and what army you might end up with after a game, as I have just found out, adds some extra spice to the ladder.

Thanks, Tyrone: Glad to hear that you're appreciating that feature! I too find it really nice, although I must admit that it was an unintended effect from being able to have two games ongoing (as challenger and as challenged) at the same time.

Kronenblatt, I sent Imatsun a PM right after my post but no response yet. I think he has up to a week to respond.

In the meantime to keep army morale up, I am allowing the troops free rein to visit any local libraries and ice cream shops in the area until they are needed. Unfortunately I am getting some early reports of severe burning and pillaging in the area plus some missing librarians but undoubtedly, the cause does not rest with my troops. Myself, I am reading a chapter a night of my second hand copy of "Dummies Guide On How to Beat the Arab North Africans Every Time! Guaranteed! Money Back if You Manage to Lose Anyway and Survive!". So now it is only a question of if and when the North Africans dare to show up.

Please note that when I made the challenge (yesterday evening) I was in 4th place and thus entitled to challenge. After that and at the time the challenge was accepted (today), I had fallen to 7th place. But I will still consider myself entitled to challenge and thus the challenge remains effective, albeit with a different army (the one I have now, when the challenge was accepted). And FP subtraction can never exceed 60 FP in any event, so 1600 FP for kronenblatt and 1540 FP for schmolywar.

I'm supplementing the rules with clarifications such as those above, as and when loopholes become apparent. Hope for your understanding that this is and will continue to be work-in-progress.

And not only that, they appear much more formidable and dastardly in real life than I imagined from my book. Definitely a mob of hairy beasts. So time for a shot of whiskey and then off to round the troops up.

imatson2527 currently has Arab (North Africa) 789-999 AD and not Rus 860-959 AD. (Please see first post.)

Have you PM'd imatson2527, challenging him? And received acceptance of the challenge by way of return PM?

The following main changes to the rules have been made:

• You can be involved in maximum one ongoing game (per section) at any point in time (whether as challenger or challenged).
  • So if you're already challenged, you cannot make your own challenge.
  • And if you have made a challenge, you cannot be challenged by someone else or make a new challenge.

• Challenges shall be posted in the forum thread (for all to see) (not by way of PM anymore), with full details in a standardised format.

• The challenged player shall accept or decline the challenge by replying with quote to the challenger's post in the forum thread (so that it's clear to all which challenge being answered to).

• The challenger shall still report the results, immediately after the game has been concluded, but now in a standardised format.

Now, I strongly urge you to familiarise yourselves with the updated full set of rules HERE, since life will be much easier for everyone if everybody can follow them.

And always check the first and fourth posts to keep yourselves updated on the current situation. Plus the latest posts of the thread to see new challenges, concluded games, etc.

I will have to cancel this challenge and game, since the stated army (Rus) is incorrect and it's not obvious that it has been agreed by way of PM (under the old rules); I asked in the forum but no answer. Hope for your understanding.

TomoeGozen's Scottish vacation in Norway has ended in disaster...

TomoeGozen (Scots) loses (badly!) to Aetius (Vikings).

The Scottish spearmen were not interested, they couldn't find haggis anywhere and decided to pack it in and go home. (If it wasn't for heroics from the Huscarls in the centre this battle would have been even more embarrassing than it was!)

Thanks to Aetius for another good game , I shall have my revenge another time
