Voting for Parthia will, of course, offer opportunities for you all to extend your runs of easy victories as there will be more of my poorly defended provinces for you to attack!

A) Election Vote - you may each PM me which player deserves another area. I need your 1st & 2nd choices please. You may not vote for yourself. The player with the most votes will receive 2 areas. The runner up 1 area. In the event of a tie I'll shoot one of the voters thereby voiding his ballot paper.

B) One of the Areas is for Sale to the highest bidder - it's a rotten area anyway I've heard. PM your bid to me please. In the event of a tie I'll just fiddle the expenses.

C) There will be a Quiz - between my son, my daughter & myself we will come up with the most evil questions imaginable in a range of categories. The winner of the quiz will receive the capital area which includes it's city. The runner up gets one area. In the event of a tie the kids will make you do the quiz again but add a lot more algebra.

Participation in any of the above is entirely optional with no effect on national morale I promise.

A & B are open now & will close at the end of the coming weekend (GMT). The Quiz will be posted this weekend when we've finished compiling it.

I do hope that some of you will participate - so far FoG has taught me 2 things - I'll never make a top general & most of you are as daft as I am
As his only ally don't I get a freebie province (a decent one too) from Hyperboria for my faithfulness to vacancy?

Random Event - Bless Thine Ally

A Heart card played on you by an ally adds 100 to your next two battles - can be against different opponents & you don't have to tell the opponent before hand (be a nice surprise for them).

Max army is still 500 even with reinforcements.

The owner of the card needs to inform me which ally they have played it on please.

And nice try Ironclad but he abandoned you in your hour of need I'd say

Rome apoligises to the Lord Ironclad for our poor performance in battle. How 2 legions and an elephant failed to break 1 unsupported pike unit to aid their left flank brothers is beyond our ken... Have no concern, the dean of our war college has invoked "double secret decimation" to stiffen our ranks.

Diplomacy: we humbly suggest the following:
Hidde: challenge for battle #2 will be issued tonite unless: you cease and desist w your war on Nueva Blathagutria, and offer us terms for withdrawing from your lands.

Ironclad: just leave, we shall not follow

It has come to your attention that you set out on a minor trek to go for a picnic got lost and ended up in the lands of one of our friends. This is an outrage, why we have even heard rumors that not only did you feed the bears but you did not pick up after yourselves and your garbage was neither green products or recyclable... such disgraces can not go unpunished.
We have therefore set out with an army to clean up your mess and dump it in your own lands of Aria, you can sing an opera about picking up trash later.
War is declared you, your people and your women are foul and unclean in our Gods eyes, prepare for vanquishment!!!

Come, come to my parlor little fly. The Horde awaits you.

Ha. Those are nothing for the Silver Shields to overcome. We are here to stay. Fight on if you wish but you'd be better having a go at PG's Hyperboria bazaar. I'm sure you will choose wisely.

I will repeat for all to see what I already told you:
The Canaan King feels that a draw is an affront to his name and have been flogging his soldier who are ready and eager to redeem themselves!

I'll post this in the player guide thread later as well:-

You may use an army from each FoG expansion you own. However before each battle you should check which armies you opponent uses (this will be on the players table) and offer battle in light of that.

Examples

Both you and your opponent use RoR and SoA - you can issue a challenge using either of your armies
You have both RoR & SoA but your opponent only has RoR - you may only issue a challenge using RoR
You only have SoA and you opponent only has RoR - you fight with your SoA army & he with his RoR army - or both join the peace corps

That should cover all eventualities and permit new armies as further expansions come out (he said knowing someone is going to prove otherwise  ).

The change to 500 point armies means a slight change to the rules. In line with earlier posts / discussions we are going to have 2 players fight only one war against each other so no more counter-invasions. If the invader can win 2 battles and there is no outstanding siege then he takes the area. The defender can concede the area earlier if he chooses to but cannot carry onto a third consecutive battle. Where a city is involved it means that if as defender you lose a battle your choice is to fight again or withdraw into the city. If you fight again and lose then the area is conceded. And if you fight again and win then the attacker must withdraw - using 500 point armies after 2 battles there will not be enough left to carry on fighting IMO. Any 2nd battle in this area must use the same armies and reduce them as usual.

If/when the attacker withdraws then the defender may carry the war into one of his opponents area. Both sides get new army at 500 points.

Hope that makes sense.

Going to have a proper read of all the posts / PM's now and figure out where we are.
Sorry, but it's time for yet another question about rules.
The above doesn't say outright what happens if the defender wins the first battle.
If the invader can win 2 battles and there is no outstanding siege then he takes the area.
My conclusion from this must be that if the attacker lose first battle he has no chance to conquer the region.
Also, I couldn't find this text in the guidance thread.

No, that is not correct

example a attacks b , b wins ist, a wins second, a third battle will be fought (with reduced aps) if a wins gets province, if b wins , a withdrws and b can follow into a's lands.. they both start over at 500 aps
The key is the 2 victories one needs...

BTW sir Hidde, do not fear that our Romans have risen from the dead to fight thee again in battle #2 , our #'s are swelled by eager reinforcemts provided by our noble ally

Well, I based that on the words from the umpire:
using 500 point armies after 2 battles there will not be enough left to carry on fighting IMO.
I don't know, A small and quick knock out game might be fun!

What was that in the last paragraph!?!
Reinforcements?...from an ally?...I must read the rules again. What have I missed

It's a random event card (there are a couple of cards that allow an army to be reinforced). I guess someone has played that card to help their ally.

I think the issue is peters writing style (ducks for bolt of lightning)
What I am pretty sure that last means is that no army could continue after two LOSSES
My understanding is both armies continue to fight the war (within the defneders land) until one side achives 2 victories, or they makes terms.....Its can take as many battles asneeded, with ap's dropping accordingly...
Now id the attacker withdraws, say after a defeat, the defender can continue the war into the attackers lands.... the war rages on but ap are reset to 500 and the 2 victoy are needed to get a province
The only resson there is really an "attacker" and a "defender" is so cities can be used to retreat into

As for the reinforcements, I am surprised you didnt get any because any hearts adn i think spades draw do give reinforcment ap's which is actually like 48% of the cards in the deck!
(peter, maybe that can be revisited next time you draw cards? Seems like a lot of reinforcement cards that will just make some wars drag as oppesed to making wars more decisive)
