The Scots-Irish retreated to a hill on the north edge of the battlefield and waited for the Romans to drive them from it. The Romans looked like they might succeed when a cavalry charge broke to Scots-Irish units, but they left themselves open to a flank attack from the Scots-Irish above them and were routed themselves. In the end, the terrain and numbers told and the Romans were defeated.

Thanks to MikeMuc for being willing to attack a strong defensive position for the Scots-Irish.
