Yes Razz1, they are very strange but dangerous! From the dark ground of the sea the horror comes to live...
Now we come to the first new Italian Paratrooper (Light Attack) unit. A little tuning of the parachute was made and now it's ready to jump and fight!
Updated! ...See my postreply from 29 Oct please...
The Heavy Attack version follows the next days, so Nikivdd, hopefully one of the next RV scenarios contents one of these new units.
Greetings!

Hello Asuser and all community!
First things first: Thanks Asuser for the new special forces Italian units! You are doing a tremendous job, adding flavor and variety to this wonderful game! You always surprise me very nicely! Keep up!!!
The new, custom made "Parachutisti" are also excellent! The new parachute canopy gives the icon a distinct look, clearly making it different from other Parachute Inf units, but, at the same time, maintaining "The PzCorps Look". Great!
Aaand... Yes, the Semovente da 149-40... I know it, it was made only one prototype, I think, but it is a very good "What If?" unit for the Italian forces. Sometime ago, I uploaded a unit pack featuring this unit, but now, as an answer to your suggestion, comes the updated version of it. No changes to the basic icon and mask, but added the two "new" Italian SE camo schemes.
Have fun!

Thanks for the Italian paratroopers

. The unit will be included in the next update of the RV mod after you finished the "heavy" version.

Another Italian unit that was lacking... A proper, long range heavy artillery unit, the Cannone da 149/40 M35... In direct and indirect fire modes, and with the customary camo assortment. Base Icons and masks also included in the pack.
Enjoy!

Hello Guille,
yeah, thats the artillery support for the coming battles of the Italian troops in Russia! Now they can marching on to fight with the opponents...
After testing the new icon of the Italian paratrooper i found some little bugs and i corrected it. So here are the final two versions of the Italian paratrooper with light and heavy weapons:
Very last update!

You could put plates on the wheels like this.

As most if the time this is how it was used.

Those HW Italians are USA marine paratroopers.
You should fix the Helmets and uniforms for the Italians.

Sorry Razz1,
I don't understand your opinion?
1.With all of my work i try to use as many as possible historic sources like books or the web. Additional i use my friendship with a modeler.
The helmets are the same like i use for the LW paras. This goes also for the uniforms. The specific magazine parts and handgrenade belts are a known equipment for the Italian soldiers.
The camo smock was like the same as for the German paras. And the color...well...that could be different for the eyes...
Or do you mean a specific uniform for the desert? These paras comes in the late war to live...
In my pimp thread (page 4) you can also see the basic layouts for the new units in a bigger form, please look at them.
2.All of the other PC veterans (bebro, nikivdd, airbornemongo, guille) made a "thumbs up" after publishing of the basic layouts, do they are all wrong?
...Was it such a big mistake by me...???

Hello Asuser,
The Italian Fallschirmjagers are in the new update of RV, as well the startscreen. I like them very much and they are consistant with the high quality of the previously released units by yourself and Guille. They blend in nicely with the other units.
Whether making scenarios, campaigns, units or any other kind of graphical modding, despite giving your ultimate best, you cannot always please everyone. This i have also learned in the last two years.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks nikivdd for your support, you saved my day!
I made a little update with the paras, because the parachute was a little bit too undefined and greenish. Want deliver the best quality for the best game ever...
Greetings!

Hello,
Razz1:
I don't want to play the smartass here but your wish with the plates on the wheels of the 149/40...??? I think the 149/40 has most of the time the rubber coated wheels so the version from Guille is ok. What do you mean is the 149/35, a model which is also used in WWII but the first duty was in WWI. And therefore it was neccessary and common because in reality you have a small edged wheel on muddy or loose ground and the plates helps a lot for better standing and battle sight changes.
Ballermann:
Thank you for your positive feedback. But sorry no, the Ita para theme is finished for me. It was a hell lot of work and with the final result I'm happy. So other versions or subversions I will not make.
Könnte ich Dir zur Versöhnung noch ein paar neue Einheitenabzeichen von Sturmgeschützabteilungen anbieten? Bitte melden...
Greetings!

Razz: This was another older model of Italian 149 mm gun, dating from year 1900, but used in the first and second world war... So it will be added to my "to do" list, incluing the wheel plates, of course!

LuftWFJ44: Thanks for the updates on the heavy AA guns... I like specially the 88 mounted on its carriage... Good for a "bunkerflak" unit... The 128 mm is also looking better...
Look for updates/upgrades on all heavy german flak guns, I specially want to improve the 105 mm model, and the 88 also, because the standarrd game icon looks very "toy-like" in my opinion.
Good work!!

Ballermann: If it is OK for Asuser, I can provide you (and anyone here) with a version with the vanilla game parachute icon or weithout a parachute at all. Just wait for his answer... The problem is he is with his hands full of work! But I am always glad to be able to help him!

About steel troop helmets: I am no specialist on this matter, but the Italian helmets looks good to me, and the uniforms and their details are excellent... I know that italian helmets looked a lot like soviet ones (and americans also).Bbesides, there is a limit to the detail you can add to a 40-odd pixel figure.
For me two important criteria are met:
1) The unit is very good looking, blending well with other icons (stock game ones and the new ones made by other modders), and being readily identifiable.
2) FUN FACTOR: It should be fun to make, and to use in the game. It is not worth to invest a lot of effort trying to make a "historically perfect to the last pixel" icon if you will suffer in the process...
Just my opinion...

And now, I start uploading what I was up to while being cut off from Internet in last weekend (oh, yeah, and also had to work a little).
First: Giving answer to a request for a switchable Hummel Sp Artillery unit (i don´t remember if it was Nikivdd who asked, or someone else)... Here is the complete unit pack, including the DCS base icons and masks.
Enjoy!

Now, some aircraft:
The Ju-86, a pre-war german bomber, made compatible with the elite units mod, including several different schemes, base icon and mask files.
This one would be a base to work on two interesting, war used, high altitude reconnaisance planes: The Ju-86P and Ju-86R, so stay tuned!
I have to give credit to the (unknown) original icon author, because the orioginal icon was taken from one of the Hungarian unit packs present in this forum. Thanks!
